Ever since i went out to my garage one night and my dash light was stuck on, I wait the 4 mins before i go into my office when i have time. The night it happened I hooked up my tether while it was doing the countdown, when I came out much later it was stuck a 0 on the countdown with dash light on. I posted a pic a while back. I plug it in each night. When i had the stock ECM in, i never once saw the battery light, only since installed the ebr ECM I see it appear from time to time. It doesn't charge with the new ECM. As well for sure. Kyle |

O and i don't use the pin, it does shown when i turn the bike off but it is not required to start it. Can you get rid of or lower that 4 mins count down? What is this for anyways? |

Once you have the key on, hold down Toggle and Mode on the dash to enter the settings. Tab through and set the THEFT setting to "off at key off" or something like that. It is currently set to Ask. That will make it turn off instantly when you turn the key off. The only difference the Erik Buell Racing in regards to charging, as noted in this thread, is that the Erik Buell Racing ECM runs the fans a little more, but that wouldn't cause your bike to be totally dead when you found it. Hard to say for sure over the internet what your issue is. |

Thanks Froggy, I can't say 100% I didn't go past lock and left light on. You can't take the key out if it is set to on. What is the value of the security setting? The manual doesn't describe much. Thanks for the feedback... |

The security mode locks out the gauge cluster and ECM. In short it makes hot wiring the bike difficult. Even if the ignition was drilled out, they wouldn't be able to start the bike. It won't stop someone from picking up the bike and tossing it in a van and driving away. |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/566210.html Could be this, I will disable the security, if it happens again it may be a bad connector to the ECM. |

I don't use the security on my 08 R and the ECM does seem to drain or causes the battery to not charge sufficiently. Before the ECM install, the bike would sound strong when I started it and now the bike sounds very week when it starts and it actually concerns me when I take it out because I think that it may not start if I turn it off. I think I will leave it in the garage for a week without starting it and see if I can start it after the 7th day. |

I have used the security PIN, but haven't so much lately. What I always found funny was the 4 minute countdown. If it takes you 1/4 that long to decide you want to use it and enter your four-digit PIN ... Well, just saying. Make that countdown 1 minute and I might turn it back to "Ask" in my settings. Mike |

I do agree that my bike does not charge as well with ERB ECU. Not I can't say this is not due to the fact that the fans are on more and causing more drain... It is cold in Canada now so I better really watch out in summer. I am not looking for a real thin pair of jumper cable to keep on my bike. The other day was not fun at all....... So here is what I think killed my battery... My bike was set to ask for code when I turned it off. I hit the digit button by accident and it entered on digit in the code. Then i just turned the bike to lock. I went into work for most of the day. When I came out the bike was dead, real dead. Per the link I posted above I believe that the security system drained my battery. That is just my theory and I have now changed it not to ask at all and just turn off. Thanks for the tip.... Kyle |

I put another 130 pretty wicked miles on mine today. Seemed the E B R unit was maybe 0.1-2 lower at times versus what I saw with the OEM stocker. It's also controlling the relay as it should, so here's hoping this stator lasts. Fell in love with the bike all over again today ... Awesome ride! Mike |
