Seeing how I'm planning on picking up an 09 CR in less than a month, I've been watching this forum more closely. And.... well, it's kinda got me spooked. I had thought that the 08 models were the ones with all the bugs and that the 09's were fixed. But there's a whole lot of talk about leaking clutch covers, bad stators, and burning wires and regulators. I'm beginning to wonder if I would be better off forgetting the 1125 and putting that money into my XB and S2. I test rode an 1125CR during the fire sale and really loved it. Only the looming layoffs at my old work kept me from buying one. Now I'm at a better job and have a chance at a great deal on an 1125CR. I know the squeaky wheels get the all attention so let's hear from those that have the worry free bikes. What year and model do you have and how many miles? Any issues? Did you get any recalls done and if so what and when? (Message edited by Not_Purple_S2 on September 23, 2010) |

Yeah, I can see people not wanting to jinx thier good fortune. But the amount of bikes report problems are surprising. I just looked through one thread from last month and there were 18 reports of people loosing stators even after they had recalls done. |

All machines have the potential to have mechanical failures, thats just part of life. That said, my CR is about to roll over 10k, one stator failure fixed under warranty. All up to date on service bulletins and recalls. I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross country. Still haven't decided whether to take my R or CR to Buelltoberfest. |

yep but if the stator is already on the way out the "fix" cannot perform miracles. |

My '09 has 4,300 miles roughly and it has been to the dealer twice. Once for the harness install and once for a new stator. Other than that, it has been rock solid. Oh yeah, the clutch weep was fixed during the last visit. |

2008 Buell 1125r 9.5k Miles Unexpected Issues Clutch Cover Replaced (Warranty) Instrument Cluster Replaced (Warranty) Rear Left and Right Turn Signals Replaced (Warranty) Technical Bulletins Engine Oil Dip Stick (Free) Reroute Fuel Vapor Line (Free) Front Brake Line Clamp (Free) Sidestand Spring Upgrade (Free) ECM Upgrade (Free) Recalls None Now, you can look at my "serious problems" and make your on assessment. I absolutely LOVE this bike. I've had a few issues but none of those issues kept me from riding the bike and enjoying it with a little supervision. Turn signal is out? No biggie. Little moisture in the IC? No biggie. Clutch cover weep? No biggie, check the fluid levels, inform the dealership and ride.} Your experience may vary. Not all dealerships are equal. I just realized you asked for 2009 models. Oh well. Disregard. (Message edited by Geforce on September 23, 2010) |

My '09R was trouble free to 3,112 miles ... In for a new stator now. I love this bike, so I'm not going to get my undies in a bunch over something currently being replaced under warranty! |

My R only has 3500 miles on her and it's been almost trouble free. I had the wiring harness update about 1500 miles ago, one rear blinker stopped working (warranty replacement), the front O2 sensor stopped working but it turned out the wire from it got broken (think that was me LOL) new one on order. The sidestand spring fell off at about 800 miles, but the design is such that it won't pitch you off if that happens. I ordered one from a guy in Australia and had it in 5 days, now have a spare in case it happens again (spare provided under warranty). The LFL/CEL issue is still there but I'll nag them this winter when it shows up again (only happens in cold weather). Other than that it's been fantastic. TBH those are trivial things, it's an amazing piece of engineering and I love it to bits.. |

Milleniumx1 - warranty is good, extended warranty is good too. 2200 stator failure, 5600 miles and I count 10 seconds from kill switch to stop, battery light goes on and 12.1 volts on dash. I am shifting at 4000 rpm but Stop and Go traffic gets in the way. Would an LED taillight be easier on the electrical system/battery? (Message edited by dannybuell on September 23, 2010) |

14,7xx miles on my CR. The only actual problem(s) I've had was 2 dead rear turn signal lights. Stator/regulator are iffy right now, but hopefully my "fix" will help that out. Fuel and timing maps were crap. I fixed that with some computer program help. Otherwise, a fun bike. Mike |

The only issue which slipped thru from the 2008 to to the 2009 model seems to be the clutch weep issue--minor. And of course, the 2009 introduced the higher output stator, which originally was welcomed and now not so much. With what I know now, I wouldn't hesitate to buy either model year. However, all things being equal, I would probably lean towards the 2008 model with all the fixes and no apparent stator issue. |

09Cr clutch fix, not really a problem, it only leaked slightly. dealer fixed it in a couple of hours. kickstand spring broke, not a big deal, I ordered on from ebr for $30 and got it in a couple of days. Over all I have been very satisfied with my CR. |

Dannybuell- You can pick up LED tail lights from E-B-R. I'm sure it is easier on the current draw. I noticed that the wires are significantly smaller gauge wire. Personally, i like the look better especially for $40. |

09 1125R, 13,600 miles... no issues other than needing new tires. Hope I'm not jinxing myself here... OH WAIT! Forgot about the cold weather LFL+CEL light. Annoying, but doesn't affect the ride at all. (Message edited by jaimec on September 23, 2010) |

09 CR with 2500 miles. No problems. Has been to dealer for new harness and first service, that's all. Lots of fun, feels like riding a bull dog; stubby, thick and muscular. |

2009cr about 5000 miles. Stator replaced - took two weeks and Im in Australia. Other than that it has been perfect. I ride to work daily and get out most weekends for some fun. Oh...except for the moisture that gets in the gauges sometimes and the fuel light coming on at strange times - I still love it though!! |

09 R, 4000ish KMS this year (bad year for time to ride) Did the Cali Can and wire harness. I run at 6k+ rpm in 1, 2 and 3rd. Don’t have the race ECM so it surges like mad at 2k in 1st and 5-5.5k rpm in 3rd. If i keep her i will install it this winter. no other issues except a slow leak in rear tire due to rim corrosion. |

4600 miles. Had harness upgrade at about 1500 miles. No stator problems at all so far. One rear turn signal went bad and was replaced under warrenty. Just broke or lost sidestand spring. No other issues and runs like a raped gorilla with the Barker and Erik Buell Racing ECM! Love this bike! -Tutt |

3,100 miles, harness upgrade @ approx. 2,400. Clutch weeps just a little, not enough to leak through the small hole in the cover though, my dealership and mechanic are ready to fix it when I'm ready (I'm just having too much fun riding to take it in). No real problems or issues, just came back from a 600 mile trip through (3) states over the weekend and rode it harder than I ever have. I love this bike, it's the most fun I've had with my clothes on. |
