3500 miles now, no issues. Battery has been low a few times because this was a 2nd bike and sat idle a lot, but after a minute or two of riding it's fine. > I was told by ebr that danny had stator issues and he ran of the battery in some races. By the way, this is inconsistent with a post someone made quoting Erik himself here a while back stating they have not had charging issues with the race bikes. I don't doubt the possibility of them doing a stator swap for mechanical reasons, but i'm highly suspect the race bikes had a charging problem. |

Early '09 build. Bought after the dealers "consolidation" of stock so it had the harness from mile one. Been trouble free for 1000 mi so far. ( dont hate, I work too much) it gets a harsh duty cycle when I do ride it as I work in town. No lights so far. I put it on a tender because of these crazy threads. If it wasn't for badweb, I wouldn't even know about the stator and it's follies. :/ |

2500 miles, no problems. I ride 4 bikes, so the Buell doesn't get a lot of seat time. Happy so far. |

Its funny to see folks excited and using exclamation points because a bike made in 2009 went 5000 miles without trouble. Hidden in there is one of the reasons this company is no longer. Don't flame me- I'm just stating the obvious. Murf |

Well I bought the CR. It has the clutch weep issue. ~3000miles I'll be calling my nearest dealer to see when they can fix it. It's not bad enough to stop me from riding. But I'm not sure I'll be able to take it to the track in November if it gets worse. |

Hey murf, if you have to say don't flame me, then you probably did something that deserves flaming. |

The only thing that is obvious is that you have no idea why BMC was closed. |

Over 7kmi on my '09 CR - it was my main bike from Oct '08 until Oct '09, hasn't seen much use since then as I got my S3T. I want to say somewhere around 4500-5000 miles I had the clutch weep, very minor, fixed by dealer and fine since. Maybe around 6500 miles I had the harness installed, but I'm still on the original stator and it's showing strong charging at pretty much any RPM... keeping my fingers crossed. So really, other than the clutch weep, I've been problem free... so far... Edit - I do get the CEL/LFL once in a while, only when very cold out. I use my trip odo to keep track of my fuel level so it's never bothered me. (Message edited by xl1200r on October 19, 2010) |

The only issue I had was the clutch weep at aprox. 5,500 miles. Very minor weep. Jerimiah at Long Horn HD in Grand Prairie Tx fixed it.(Jerimiah also rides a Buell Lightning, and is an excellent Buell mechanic). Have never had any other issues. I now have over 7,000 miles and absolutely love my CR. Just a side note....no harness upgrade. |

I'd be really interested to know from those that haven't had any Stator Problems, (with over 4k miles) how many have A: their "noid" still in tact & B: are running a Stock ECM as the Harness band-aid....oops ....excuse me.... "Fix" was intended to operate with.. Just fishin' a little.. I hate those guys who only kick up a stink when their bike is down and when they have a momentary pacifier are content till it affects them again. I frequent these boards (and appreciate being apart of the community btw) and know alot of you are going through this, some for at least the second time, and would really like to figure out a solution... |

cowboy - See my post above - meets all your criteria, no stator problems (so far, knock on wood, etc.). BTW - I was at the dealer yesterday talking to the parts guy who has a CR as well - his stator is still going good (not sure on his miles, less than mine, though), but did mention that a handful of 1125's either had or will be going in for stators. |

Has anybody looked to see if there's a correlation between build date and stator failures? |

X11200R, Good question. I have been unable to find anything that tells me why stators have failed, e.g., something physically wrong with the stator. All the posts made me shy away from riding the 09 for quite a while. That said, my dealer told me not to worry about it that they stood behind the fix, that they installed it, and that they did it right. Why my confidence? Well the head of the service department is a Buell racer and his techs love to work on Buells. I'm lucky there. I live in a little country town about two miles from downtown Washington DC. We have the second worst traffic in the country. My bikes get HOOOOOT!!!! I try to keep my RMPs above 5K...even if I have to ride to work in first gear. That said, I expect some systems to fail, just like in my car. I expect water pumps to eventually fail, stators to burn up, bearings to fail, hoses and belts to break. Hopefully not when I'm three hundred miles from home... I would like to know why there appear to be lots of bikes whose stators have failed. Was the fix installed incorrectly? Were the bikes ridden such that heat damaged the stators? Did we just have a bad batch of stators? With the information I have seen on the Bad Web thus far, I don't think I would be out on a limb by suggesting these failures were the work of witches. That makes about as much sense as most things I have read here. Sorry guys. Oh yeah, no problems with the bike. (Message edited by black on October 20, 2010) |

Dealer says no problem with the bike, and don't drop it any more - lol - almost eight thousand on it - a total of over 68 thousand on two Blasts by me, my parts bike - which is mechanically perfect has 34,000 by a freeway commuter. I hope my CR to last twice as long, because it will never see the abuse my Blasts have been through - lol EZ |
