Don't do it! 100 percent failure rate so far after harness install. Better make that 99%. Mine's doing just fine, thank you. No problems before or after. And again, for the record: 1. THE UPDATE IS NOT A RECALL. End of discussion, don't try to argue, I have the paperwork and will be happy to send it to you. A recall is a mandate by the NHTSA, requiring manufacturers to make a change to a series of vehicles in the name of safety. The harness is a VOLUNTARY program, freely done by Buell in the name of helping the owners of its motorcycles enjoy the motorcycle more. They didn't have to do it...they WANTED to. 2. If a stator is already damaged, the harness will NOT fix it. It is designed to PREVENT stators from being damaged in the first place. It is not a magic Borg overlay that allows circuitry and electronics to spontaneously regenerate. It is a PREVENTATIVE MEASURE. Period. 3. If you ride the bike like an XB, you WILL cook the stator. I know, it's hard for us Buellers to get used to it - we're used to torque at 2000 rpm - but ignore the tach for a couple of hours and just RIDE the motorcycle, IN THE POWERBAND. Then, look down. Betcha you're over 4k, probably 5k+. Don't be afraid to rev it, there's a reason it runs HARD all the way to 10,500. If you wanna save fuel a la Froggy...fine. But I'd rather drop a couple pennies at the pump, have more grins while riding...and not have to buy a stator. Seems to be working so far, and rear tires are easier and cheaper to change than stators. >>>> Nobody knows yet That's an inaccurate statement. Court - as always, you seem to be completely accurate. Somebody knows alright. |

You mean the solution or that the issue exists ? |

Had the harness (recall) put on at 4500. At 7000 the stator failed, so had the dealer replace it under warranty. Bike now has 9100 on it and so far no issues. But since the first one did not fail until 7000 I am crossing my fingers and hoping that the issue has been fixed. I do put the bike on a charger once a week. I drive a lot of stop and go traffic and with as hot as it has been the fans can run up to a minute or so after the bike has been shut off. It usually fully charges in less than 15 minutes on a 1amp charger. |

> 3. If you ride the bike like an XB, you WILL cook the stator. Be careful Rat! With logical, factual talk like that you are likely to be brandished an unhelpful who just doesn't understand or consider the majority of rider's needs. |

I can live with that. |

*** Mindless Speculation Alert #1 *** I'd be interested to see information about the distribution of failures geographically. I'll bet that the hotter the weather, the more likely stator failure is. *** Mindless Speculation Alert #2 *** My guess is that an engineer could perform an autopsy on a fried stator and diagnose just what went wrong. I'm also guessing that at least one engineer at H-D looked at the issue, and that that engineer isn't stupid. So, of course, H-D knows. |

I doubt HD bothered. Buell and Rotax, on the other hand.... |

The charging system failed on my girlfriends 1125 saturday while we were riding. The dealer told her today the stator failed. It failed at 3K miles. The relay harness was installed at 400 miles. |
