I just got my '09 1125R back from the dealership after being there 5 weeks, and the 3rd time and 3rd tech to attempt to address the P1047 Code, which is caused by to large a discrepancy between F-R AFV adjustments by the stock ECM. At its worst, it showed F 115.5 R 90.0.

Brief history: I started throwing a P1047 code at about 6,000 miles. At just under 1,000 miles I installed a FMF carbon/ti slip-on. I de-noided and installed a K&N filter at the same time. Had FMF can repacked with FMF baffle kit at 4,000 miles. No other mods.

For approximately 5,000 miles the bike was absolutely trouble free until the CEL light and P1047 Code showing in DIAG mode on the IC.

Took it to the dealer the first time. They told me they did a TPS reset, cleared the codes and everything should be fine. Checked AFVs at pick-up and they were 100-100. After less than 50 miles they were at F 110 R 97 and shortly thereafter the CEL light and P1047 Code reappeared.

Took it back to the dealer. Told them about previous posts where owner's referenced a bad injector or mis-fit rubber plug where Cali-can goes (I believe I have a 49 state bike, bought new in FL). Dealer inspected for leaks and finding none reset TPS again, much to my chagrin. Same result as before, within 100 miles the code was back.

Third time (and 3rd tech) to look at it, speaks with "tech services". They say put the bike back to stock. I have to bring my OEM exhaust and solenoid back in and they re-install it. So far, 50 miles and no fluctuation.

So my question is: Why did I have 5,000 trouble-free miles with AFVs running F 105 R 100 most of the time and then all of a sudden I get to F 115.5 R 90.0 and P1047 Code?

I was going to get E_B_R ECM for FMF but wanted to get this issue fixed first. The fact that they didn't replace any parts (only reinstalling OEM exhaust and solenoid) makes me think this problem is likely to come back.

Running an aftermarket exhaust with the stock ECM can and often does cause the issues you describe, due to the improper fueling. That is why you were getting 115.5F and 90R. Only difference is, one day it wanted to compensate a bit more than previously, and it was just enough to set off the trouble code for the too large difference between the cylinders.

Get the Erik Buell Racing ECM and your problems WILL go away, and you will be kicking yourself for running 6000 miles with the wrong fueling.

Thanks Froggy. I just have a hard time believing that I rode 6 months and 5,000 miles with the FMF/K&N and no codes of any kind. I am more worried that there is a different problem causing this (bad injector, intake leak, etc.) that I won't know about if I replace the ECM.

Im surprised it didn't throw a code at 115.5/90, as that is beyond the acceptable spread. Either way you were probably just borderline to throwing the code and it finally happened when the weather changed.

Naiguy - who took it in and replaced the fuel pump? People on this forum? That is the first time I've heard that as a proposed solution.

Thanks fellas. I will consider this the final solution then.

I'm actually liking the stealthiness of the OEM pipe now. I want a little more noise, the 14+ pound weight savings and of course a 10+ HP bump, I wish some enterprising entrepreneur would fill the gap!

Dean - I never saw that option of yours until you just pointed it out. Do you know the gains of the bike with this option and the E_B_R Race ECM? Which ECM map option is most appropriate? OEM?

I meant the bike had the same code as yours and some fuel pressure codes and a couple other codes I can't remeber off hand.
Dealer is throwing a fuel pump at it but this may be just the beginning for this issue for me.

Jng1226 - It's possible that the wadding has broken down again and that's just enough to tip you over the AFR value threshold. That might be the best (cheap) thing to test, just repack it again and see if that does it.

Even if it doesn't a kit costs about $35 and may quieten the HMF enough to make it more palitable - but it'll be a bit quieter when you install the Erik Buell Racing ECM anyhow..

If changing back to the stock muffler has made the issue stop then it does seem to point at the pipe..

Check with Erik Buell Racing, but I think this one will work with it. http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product44.html Not sure of the gains you'd see, but it will run a wee bit better than the stock ecm. The MT-1 will give you some thump without being obnoxious and will run fine with the stock ecm as well.

Mine would have the same code, only mods were Cali can, and denoided. I found my problem wad 94 octane gas and the Cali can mod. Went back to 91 octane fuel and problem solved.
