On the way to work this morning, I suddenly noticed my speedometer was reading 0 (I was perhaps a little north of the speed limit). I checked the voltage, but it looked good (better than 13.5 and as high as 13.8 at times). The odometer also remained static --- 50.7 miles on the trip odometer for several miles. At that point, the engine light came on, and when I pulled over, I had a Fuel Pressure System error as well as 2 (!) V Speed System errors. When I restarted the bike, the engine light was gone, though it returned within a mile or two. I made it into work with no further problems and HD has the bike now. Although I don't know much about these things, I would like to believe that the normal battery voltage (and, let's be honest here: 13.8V is better than average for my bike) would seem to indicate the charging system is working OK. But I have a tough time believing that both the VSS and the fuel system would go south within minutes of each other . . . Anybody have an armchair diagnosis? |

Ha ha sh!t. It was a loose wire. On the bright side, an alert tech noticed that my front tire was close to the end of the tread warranty, and on closer inspection found "a nail you must have run over in the parking lot." So I got a free tire . . . Also, coincidentally, my airbox came in. So, all in all a pretty good day . . . |
