I was ridding thru okc mid day traffic and I noticed a little tricked out moped desperately trying to catch me; we meet at a stoplight and he leans over and warns" hey man, watch those hard shifts, your belt will break!" I said really , as the light changed i stood it up on its end and rode it thru to the next light, was this guy for well? |

The guy obviously knew what he was talking about. I mean, he was on a moped after all! lol |

I recently had a laugh, I was looking to see if they make a belt conversion kit for the Ducati Mulitstrada, and someone on the forum said the belt would have to be at least 4" wide to handle the 150hp Duc engine. Riiiiiight. |

So, the belt that is about 1inch wide that can handle to apx. 130 RWHP on the 1125 would have to be 4x wider to handle the power of an extra 15 horses? Wow! It must take some edimacation to do dat math.... |

The Multi has only 4 more crank horsepower than the 1125. |

So that 150 is crank not RWHP. Then that math is even better then I thought. lol |

Don't knock moped riders. Not all of us are idiots. |

It wasn't me, but that sounds like something I would do. I would realize later that the other person had no way of knowing I had an 1125 at home and was joking. Same thing happens when I wave at people I know, forgetting that that they have no way of recognizing me in helmet and gear. |

> I should stop racing mine with the belt...... I'm with you. I run/race the stock belt, too, and even if it breaks today, it's still cost me way less and been way less hassle than a chain. |

Kaotikevo yes I'm still running the 145 tooth R belt (waiting on a 148 tooth CR belt). Stock engine with a Barkers slip on and Fuel Solutions tune. |

> you're all crackin jokes like nobody's ever broken a belt before? I did it in Arkansas one year and had to wait 3+ hours for a trailer rescue! and... it's *still* been less cost, less trouble, less hassle, and less downtime than my chain driven friends who ride in a similar fashion. I'm a belt converted! Too bad it's going to be abandoned in sportbikedom forever, probably. Chains are surely more suitable for the track because of the simplicity of gearing and wheelbase adjustability, but I'll miss the belt when I have my new 1190RR here. LOL! |

Maybe they will have a belt-drive conversion kit when the RS comes out! I would be interested. |

> Maybe they will have a belt-drive conversion kit when the RS comes out! It's a big job. It's a whole system of equations based on a step-function for the teeth in the belt, the idler wheel size, the swing arm pivot, the delta between concentric of the swing arm axle and front sprocket, and probably a half dozen other factors I'm forgetting. Basically, there's a whole lot to get wrong. My opinion is it must be designed in from the beginning to work well at all. |

Guys, moped man may have been on to something to some degree but come on, a 4 inch belt? Really! I can see a 2 inch belt maybe but not a 4 inch. |

Oh, and Puzzled, your bike looks absolutely menacing! I would hate to see that in my rear view looking like a ravaged beast hunting its prey... |
