I posted this in Buell News section too... I'm an airline pilot and I had a well known AMA superbike racer on board my jet today. As he walked on and I recognized him I had to say hello and started talking with him. When I mentioned that I rode an 1125R, he said that BRP had made the deal to acquire the Buell brand and that they were going to start producing bikes again soon. |

If this is true, then that's probably the best thing that's ever happened to Buell. I am super stoked! |

Would this riders last name be the same as a month of the year, somewhere between April and June? |

No, but it would be the same last name as the guy who publishes Road Racing World. |

Would that be like "BRP-Rotax", as in Helicon engines? This would be a smart business decision for sure, if true, this would continue world class technology with motorcycles. Keep your fingers crossed! |

We may know more Tuesday when the teaser vid for the 1190rs is released. The source the OP referred to is interesting....... |

I did have the cockpit voice recorder going, but it'll take an order by the FAA to pull it. He seemed pretty confident in the facts of it, let's hope! |

I'm sure if we petition the FAA we could make it happen. They seem like a happy go lucky bunch. |

BRP is Bombardier Recreational products and Rotax powers their snow machines, quads, personal water craft... The XB platform could carry a variety of Rotax engine sizes. The XB/Rotax could also be a 500cc super motard with a 750cc city/freeway model. The 1190; Get a grip, keep your head down and hang on! |

Was that after the free drinks in first class? What would make you think an AMA racer would possibly know anyhow? In any case, not a chance. H-D has made it clear they will not sell the brand. C'mon tell us who it was so we can make fun of him! |

Anony, here's the answer to your question. Certainly you know who he's referring too. Ps, give us a sneak peek of the 1190rs. Ibppjr Posted on Saturday, September 11, 2010 - 05:51 pm: No, but it would be the same last name as the guy who publishes Road Racing World.

Even without fist hand information, it's hard to imagine a change of heart from HD. A bid was already made by Rotax for Buell and rejected by HD. |

Well, HD is continually digging a deeper hole of debt because the economy is still in the dumps and their bikes are priced way too high. Declining merchandise sales are not helping the cause either. This is definitely a buyers market, so perhaps HD is rethinking their original idea. |

perhaps they just buy the name not the line? F harley I would buy a BRP/Buell with a conventional frame and gas tank even dual discs up front as long as the Rotax power plant is in there who cares? |

No drinks ha ha, he was just boarding with his wife and baby boy. I'm so jacked...the potential to have the bikes in dealerships that actually have a clue to what sport and adventure bikes are all about. |

for crying out loud, he's talking about Chris Ulrich, who's dad, John Ulrich, started Roadracing World. I find it hard to believe he'd know about any kind of deal, but it would be welcomed news if true. |

1. That was Asphalt and Rubber, not Road Racing World. 2. The Bomber motorcycles was an April Fools Day joke. |

I knew who it was rocket, I just wanted to see how many people would blurt out funny comments in stead of doin 1.729 seconds of research if they don't know which superbike riders dad publishes rrw. |

I'd like to believe this is true - I'm sure that Erik still has a few more tricks up his sleeve ! Or it could be that HD are in such dire straits that they are going to allow "patented parts" to be produced under license to allow Rotax engined bikes to be built again - parts production was contracted out anyway so it would not be a problem with HD's internal structure as only the assembly was done in house, and that could resume anywhere with the proper workforce. And Erik is shrewd enough to have kept a list of his original suppliers surely ! (Message edited by sportster_mann on September 11, 2010) |

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! After all, Harley-Davidson can't continue to act like idiots forever! They have a Buell Motorcycle Company that they could sell and make a nice profit for their stock shareholders. Try going in front of the stockholders and telling them your spending millions of dollars closing down a motorcycle company which really doesn't compete with your core line of motorcycles and a company that would fetch a rather high selling price. The Harley board of directors can't continue to hold a grudge against Erik Buell much longer, the stockholders are going to get restless. |

The best part, if it were true is it would make it easier to build more bike faster, driving down the cost. Affordability was always a key point for me when spreading the gospel of Buell. |
