I'm trying to get the front pulley off. I used a long torque wrench and that didn't do it. The manual indicates that the threads are normal, not reversed. Any suggestions? |

I wouldn't use a torque wrench. I'd use a breaker bar. |

Have you removed one? Just wandering if others found the same thing I have. |

I removed the front pulley when I put on my chain conversion swing arm. Used a breaker bar . Just put it in gear to keep from turning. Was not torqued on very tight at all. |

Dennis, I've already got the belt off. Should I put it back on? Or, is engine compression enough? Thanks for the help. BTW I'm putting my chaindrive on too. looking forward to finally getting to the track this weekend with my new equipment. |

Engine compression should be enough. Worked for me. |

I'd avoid stressing the drive-train and bearings if at all possible, as much as possible. T-handle (lug wrench type) or long breaker bar with backup via belt and rear brake would seem to be be ideal. The torque wrench can lose calibration using it to break free highly torqued nuts. Not a good idea. Not sure about using an impact wrench. If backed up by the rear wheel/belt and break, then it seems okay. I'm just really leery of damaging transmission through application of excess torque backed up against engine stiction and compression. |

i hacked out a simple pulley locking tool from a piece of flat plate to pull the pulley off on an engine not in the frame. in the frame i have been leaving the belt and wheel on and sliding a 2x4 between the wheel spoke and swingarm. tim |

When I got home last night I put a board through the rear wheel and used my 1/2" corded impact wrench. When the bolt did come out it had anti-sieze on it, but it took a lot of effort. The chaindrive is now safely on and that's all that matters. |
