I'm trying to lift the bike using a Sears bike lift on the engine (after removing the exhaust). The problem with the 1125 engine bottom is that there is no flat spot to stably rest on the lift. I tried using a wood block underneath the engine. No luck, the bike becomes too wobbly.

What's the best way to stabilize? Anyone make a cradle to fit the 1125 engine?

i've seen some ply-wood pieces cut out to fit the muffler. u-shaped and felt lined. looked pretty trick.

i'd still throw a couple straps over the top, and hook on the rear subframe for piece of mind.

but ive been known to be a little strap-happy

I always lift from above. Cheaper and easier.

i used this

it was stable enough for me to change the frame, i used a harbor fright tools jack with a tied down strap over the engine and cut a couple of pieces of wood to level the exhaust.

Nillaice, that set-up looks like a fine start for a Modern Art exhibit. Clean it up a bit and stick it in some lobby at a fancy New York office building and sell it for like $20G's.

Is that a swing frame?
