Hey, so I know its been done. Wiring the turn signals into the outside part of the headlighs. So I got it all wired up but my fuse for the acc keeps blowing out. Anyone have an idea of how to fix the prob?

obviously you didn't use any blinker fluid. fill up both sides with some of the good synthetic stuff, and you should be good to go

if i am not mistaken you have to use relays.

you might not have to if you replace the side marker lights with LEDs but the bulbs are gonna pull more current than the LED mirrors.

I could be wrong tho.

amber LED's work perfect... I got 5 Led bulbs, they flash faster but its not a big deal.

this might be a stupid question but just which wires exactly do you run to where?

At one point there was an excellent tutorial from someone who actually did it. I believe they may also have installed HID's in the low beams. Can someone find and link to that thread?

If you aren't to electrically challenged you can use relays to have them stay on as running lights and use the blinker wires to trigger relays to cut the power to them so they blink as well.

Just splice the turn-signal wires to the running lights.
5W bulbs will NOT blow a fuse.
Not real bright, but they work fine for me - 2 years and 25k miles like that.

Left signal lit -

zac - why would you change the turn signals but keep those mirrors? i would think the idea behind reworking the turn signals would be to lose those bulky mirrors and go for bar-ends or something. ($.02)

Chris: Those are the "mickey mouse ear" mirrors off the Firebolt. Zac likes them better.

I remember now, it was indeed Zac.

I'm guessing the mirrors he changed to are more stable and/or better able to aim past his elbows than stock. But that is just a guess.

As for bar-ends, if I were going to go that route (and who knows? I might), I would probably also look at just using flush-mount signals where the stock mirror stalks meet the fairing. Although I love the clean look of using the running lights, I would be inclined to believe that flush-mounts might be more visible from the sides. On the other hand, the stockers aren't really beacons either . . .

Smok4nd - thanks, she's rough now and the motor's in the garage.
Original owner, first time I saw a "Certificate of Origin" instead of a title.

Mark and Paul - Bingo, Mouse-ears are my favorite mirrors, of any I've used on any bike.

I just spent a long time at that site Lastonetherebuys, nice kit, they have a lot of different fitments.
The Universal you linked to is good for us, looks a lot like the one they have for the new FZ1s also.

Thanks for that.

Z
