I have the CEL and LFL coming on issues with my 09 R. I have had it into the dealer and they have not resolved anything. (apart from fixing the fried stator issue) The service desk guy tells me it's not under warranty and that he is not going to buy me a new cluster, but he will order one for me if I want ..... "but you'll have to pay for it". All this before he has even seen the bike or even knows what colour it is. Anyway, I phoned the national service manager for Canada and have him authorize the local dealer to check on the cluster. When I pick up the bike (after 5 weeks) and ask about the cluster, I'm told that "we've cleared the codes". And you suspect that that will fix the problem, I ask? Shoulder shrug, "we've done what Harley asked us to do". So how do I go about getting this fixed? I ask? Again, a shoulder shrug is my answer. Does anyone know if there is a Technical Tip or something that I can print out and take in to these idiots ? I really am getting fed up with having to gather up the information that they are just to lazy to do. I have done a search on here and have some information about the issue (printed it and took it in for them) but I think something official from Harley / Buell may be more helpful. Thanks in advance and sorry about the rant (I am seeing a BMW boxer sport in my near future ..... but I like my 1125 almost as much as I dislike the service department at my local dealer) | ||

here it is Inaccurate Low Fuel Warning Light Verify the software version as well if you are diagnosing inaccurate low fuel warning lights. Issues were identified with the Software Version 5.1.1 and 6.0 that could lead to a low fuel light coming on intermittently with adequate fuel levels. Follow the Diagnostic Flow Chart in the Electrical Diagnostic Manual for the correct diagnostic path. Note: there is a misprint in both the MY08 & MY09 electrical diagnostic menu for the Low Fuel Light Always On flow chart. When measuring the resistance between terminals D and A of the fuel pump connector [86B], the resistance measured should be between 850-1400 ohms. __________________ | ||

Two failure modes at work here. 1) LFL and CEL at start-up, lights go out at OpTemp - IC out-of-cal, replace IC (old firmware, can only be updated at depot) 2) LFL and CEL come on AROUND OpTemp. a little "plus or minus" - sensor out-of-cal. replace fuel pump/sensor ass'y. Lights may or may not go out, depending on how cold ambient is ... 10 - 30 dF stays solid. I have seen 7 dF and both lights were on the whole 15minutes.
