D noiding is removing or disabling the solenoid that limits the throttle when going Wide Open Throttle, particularly in third gear. Basically the solenoid is an electric device that limits the throttle so the bike could pass epa emissions. You can either unplug the solenoid or remove it. I myself removed it because the throttle is smoother with it removed, and it weighs about 5 lbs. either way you disable it, you will want to order the resistor, it plugs into the solenoid connector on the engine harness to trick the ecm into thinking that the solenoid is working, If you don't get the resistor, the bike will throw a check engine light. If you get the resistor, it will not throw the check engine light. link to the resistor: http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product87.html |

This is a link to a thread that goes through the steps of removing the solenoid. link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/490767.html And by the way, welcome to the forum! |

> particularly in third gear ONLY in third gear, and ONLY if you go WOT below 5k. I can't remember the specific RPM, but if you are keeping the revs up, you will never hit it. |

Its been posted here by others that ordering an Erik Buell Racing ECM will also solve the problem as it does not activate the Noid. A race ECM solves so many problems on Buells that its strongly worth considering. -Tutt |

The easiest way to mod it (requires only removing the front seat) is the $6 resistor plug, and just leave the H/W alone. I've since bought the E-B-R ecm, but that wasn't available the first time a noid activation almost made me soil myself! Mike |

If you "go the extra mile" and remove the noid's cable link to the throttle, the throttle will be MUCH lighter. Z |

Zac, that's true ... But then I'd never be able to keep that damn front tire on the ground! |

Personally, I would keep the hardware in place. The Bike is as tricky as it already is. With the Erik Buell Racing ECM and the removal of the Noid hardware I found the throttle too light. Specially in town with speedbumps. Still happy with the throttle feel here. Dennis |

Seems pretty straight forward, but whats up with that bracket stuff at the end? The tape on the bracket to show where to cut, dosen't seem very clear, although I'm no engineer. Do you have to cut the bracket, why do you have to do that? |

Cocobueller - I removed mine so long ago that it's a bit fuzzy, however, I never cut anything as I didn't want permanent modifications. The hardware is all out in a box on the shelf and can be put back in if I just reverse the steps. Of course I'd have to look at the print out of the thread to remember how to do it. Thanks again to Puzzled for posting such great details in the original tutorial with pictures. (Message edited by jng1226 on August 29, 2010) |

Thanks Jng1226, I'll just go in and figure it out, with the instructions and figure out what I can skip. |

Couldn't it be disabled by only disconnecting the cable end at the linkage? The cable would move but be harmless and require no resistor? Murf |
