I deleted my earlier post, but I guess its somewhat relevant. HOW is 160 hp MORE than 175 for the 1125RR or 185 for the 1190? wtf are you either drinking or smoking? And how is it you obtained 160 hp with ebr's race exhaust, but never got over a somewhat questionable 140+ hp with the TH pipe? Not to mention bashing it (ebr's pipe) for being substandard. Maybe its the scaling, maybe the language barrier? Something seems to be getting lost in the translation.
I realize that tuning is your business, but crowing to the world+dog that you produced more power from a stock engine vs. one with a little more displacement as well as numerous trick bits inside it seems a little over the top. I just don't see it happening.

I talk about 160 rwhp that is about 185 bhp and that is stated in 2 articles for the possible 1190 street version that possibly (we all hope) will show up |

ebr's 1190 has 185 rwhp, they even say they used a dynojet dyno.

I see two different orientations/directions looking at the same task. I have been to your site many times. You are an exceptional tuner. Nobody will argue that.
One of the reasons I suspect that so many respect E-B is that he competes with himself to do better. Moving from tube frames in less than ten years to the ground breaking XB is clear and concise proof that this man is an engineer.
HD's pushrod design motors have been around in one form or another for over 80 years. If ever there was an old technology company HD is it. HD let E-B do the XB and later the 1125's. That is clear and concise proof that this man has people skills, to move a technology sloth like HD up to the front of the class.
How many people work where their corporate culture demonstrates NO leadership, passion or imagination?
E-B has delivered miles and miles of smiles for decades in the studio, on the track, at the boardroom, in the factory, on the street, building race bikes, selling race parts, as a musician....
Basic respect is given to all and lost by some. The respect given to great achievers is star status.

1. There is no 1190 road version that I know of. If so, where do I buy one. Magazines can be wrong.
2. Your bike is not a road version, and neither is your tune. RACE only.
3. Comparing Your RACE bike and the E.B.R. RACE bike....E.B.R makes more power
4. Good luck at Bonneville. I hope we all gain from it and you get a Record close to 222mph.

funny to read through with all the dyno work then to post all the altitude stuff and ect effecting the fueling over the dyno original made maps.
same thing on all dyno's too rich up top on the road at full speed. load not set correct on the dyno. the data logging wins when making mapps, this is always to make the best maps.I have preached that for years now.
dyno made maps always finish second to real road made maps on the bike the maps are intended to be on. once done put the bikes back on the dyno and look at the maps. use that to rescale the dyno to make it more accurate to real world results.

now you see what we see on the track and in the real world. imagine the maps being made a bazillion miles away on a different bike. lol |

There or the Texas Mile are the only places I can think I would open Loretta to her top-speed.
130 in a 75 is my limit on public roads, I have principles.

I'm pretty sure the 167 or 171mph was with the RR, the 1125 had trouble pushing past 8000rpm (cold engine apparently). See the link posted above to read the story. |

I kept watching from the tower, expecting something, but nothing really outstanding.
there were not that many bikes over 200 this year. 229 or something like that was the highest, but were not buells.
I think Aaron got close to 200 mph with his bike...197 or something like that. his sporster. |

Rex - was the salt funky this year.? Flats are just down the road from me but I didn't make the (all of) 125 mile drive out this year. I am surprised that the 1125's only did 140. I did 5 more than that over at Miller track (front straight, 5th gear) on Monday, and don't have near the wind-up distance that you have at BSF. |

Salt absorbs power like crazy. Wheel spin also is a problem on salt. Read almost any Salt flat novice's story and there is always heaps of optimism around before the many years of hard graft! A lot of which is understanding how different salt is to the highway asphalt. A 200 mph bike on tarmac is going to struggle on salt. Read about Bert Munro (Indian Vtwin)....or Max Lambky (Vincent V Twin) Not that many instant sucess stories in the history of Bonneville

we had rain on Sunday night/ monday I believe. the held the racing till the afternoon to let the salt dry. there was a lot of slip that first day after the rain. then it started to dry some. You could hear the tires spin or the motor rev up as folks try to get more speed.
A friend of ours from the Bay area took his suzuki street bike there for the first time and got his speed up to 190 plus.....
one of the ladies from northern cal almost got past 200, she got in the high 190's.
Jim Higgins and others were able to get over 200 plus. |

I wish I could win the lottery. i would buy one of the 1190's and get it set up for the salt. A great big CHANEY on the side, powered by ERIK BUELL RACING. Maybe even hire Nicky Hayden to come over and ride for me.

Burt Munro still holds at least one record as BSF as I recall. (1000cc - 1967). One of those cats I would have loved to meet. |

Burt Munro, 'Worlds Fastest Indian' In the film he set his record on first visit. The reality was different to the Hollywood version! It took some years to get real success. His Biography is a great read. |
