Hi All This is my 1st post and im from the UK I've had my 1125r a little while now and it has done 1200 miles. Its a 2009 model white with the hero blue trim. I've had no problems with it so far. However, I cant help feeling the bike is lacking in power. I've put a UK stealth can on it which looks and sounds nice but it hasnt improved the performance. I've owned and ridden a lot of bikeszx12r xb12r, gsx1400, fireblades, hayabusa RSV mille etc so I know what to expect when a bike has a certain bhp and how it should feel. With the 1125r it just doesnt feel like a bike with 146bhp at the crank. My experience so far is that the power delivery is very flat and doesnt seem to have a noticeable power band. I can accelerate reasonably rapidly to a 100mph+ in 4th but then change to 5th and it just seems to run out of steam and takes ages to gain any more speed. For a vtwin it also seems to lack torque and grunt and im sure my mille had more bottom end and my firebolt definately had more grunt. Do I have to red line this bike to start hitting any real power? Cheers Stu |

funny, that reminds me of an post in xborg: there was a guy wanting to import a bike from the uk. but then, they found out, that these bike were french-specs 1125s (different throttle body) with 107hp. maybe you got one of these bikes...very unlikely i know, but check your VIN with your dealer. it's very unlikely, that your new can will steal that much power. it's about 130 rwhp... |

Its def a UK spec bike from a UK dealer |

then test your bike on a dyno and compare the result with an ok bike. there could be many reasons, why your bike isn't working. but it's hard to find out just by reading your data so far. |

The Helicon has a very flat torque curve. Being that there is no dip or sudden surges, it "feels" slower. (Message edited by froggy on August 12, 2010) |

"Maybe" there is something interfering with the throttle body, like a hose or something that is keeping the spring loaded throttle from opening fully. |

+2 Froggy, my CR 500 has powerband, but my 1125CR would pull a tree out of the ground with the torque curve... |

My 08r was the same check your throttle linkages my throttle bodies where only opening 1/3 of the way when fixed what a difference Mike |

Next time your riding and it feels like the bike it going slow, just look down at the speedo....and then you'll get that buell grin! |

Sounds like something wrong there Stu,mine pulls like a train and is quicker than my 125hp tl and my 145hp tornado. In diag mode make sure the throttle is going 2% to 100%. Or lift the airbox and check it is fully opening. |

TPS shows 2-100% when I test it One thing I have noticed though in diag mode is that the ....... cant remember the name! fuel air thingy always seems to read 100 for the front cylinder and the rear cylinder is always about 94.5 Is this significant? Cheers Stu |

First thing I would do is pull the airbox cover off, clean your air filter and wipe your throttle body clean. |

"100 for the front cylinder and the rear cylinder is always about 94.5 " That can happen when a different exhaust is fitted it means it has seen the rear cylinder richer during the closed loop so has adjusted the afv. You could try the original exhaust again,my bike will even in top gear pull from about 60mph to naughty speeds very easily. |

Im not hijacking your thread, but my front cylinder is 105 and rear is 100. All stock bike. |

do a tps reset and see if anything changes in the Butt dyno department. The machines are so linear they can lull a fella to sleep till you look down and bam 117 mph effortlessly |

Some bikes seem to adjust even when all standard,it is just the ecu doing what its meant to. I think most standard stay at 100/100 afv,but a small adjustment I guess could be for several reasons ie slight tolerance difference. Stu the best thing is try and find another 1125 local to you and test side by side or have a swop. |

Welcome, Stuuk. I have to disagree with the previous post that 100/100 is normal for AFV. Most bikes reported on this site do not stay 100f/100r, even in completely stock form. It is very common to have a few points difference between front and rear cylinder, so I wouldn't consider the values you are seeing as abnormal. You didn't say what flash version is in your ECM, did you? That might be a contributor to "feel", and would definitely help us here know what you are experiencing. When you are going to 100 MPH in 4th, from what speed/RPM do you start rolling on the throttle? Does it feel weak at some specific point that you can pick out? If you are accelerating hard to 100 MPH, I guess I am wondering why not be in 3rd versus 4th? Then, click up to 4th for your continued rush up past 120. Just a guess, but everyone may be right that you feel it is down on power simply because it is such a linear power curve. A run through the first three gears from about 5K to redline in each should yield a really big grin. |

Ponti1,I was simply pointing out to "1125rcya" that his altered afv is not a problem. Also it is not abnormal for "stuuk" to see the corrected afv either,in fact with a different exhaust more expected. If Stuuk has an acceleration problem around 100mph I was not suggesting it has anything to do with the afv. I guess I am lucky as I have one of the few standard bikes that senses the designed e.g.o. |

Hi Stu I'd definately pop the airbox off (outer cover, inner cover, filter, base plate) and check ou the throttle linkages. I know you're seeing 2-100% on the TPS but I'd still want to see the butteflies to make sure they are fully opening. I'm in the UK too - but unfortunately quite a way away otherwise I'd suggest you have a quick go on mine to see how it compares. They do have a very flat torque curve but mine pulls like a train right up to 160+ with no issues. If there's a dyno nearby you'd expect to see a flat torque "curve" and around 130 RWHP (ish). |

Hi All Thanks for the replies I was out again today for a good run. Still seems a little flat but managed to get it up to 120ish Not sure what the flash version is. How do i find out? There are no real flatspots but it does seem to struggle after 8000-9000 rpm When i got back I had the airbox off and checked the throttle operation all looked ok. I did the de-noid mod at the same time (not the full mod just removed the solenoid bowden cable). Are many people running the 1125 with the inner airbox cover removed? Does this improve performance? Thanks Stu |

You should not struggle after 8000 RPM. Even with a lot of time on liter bikes, the pull should still send you eyeballs to the back of your skull. There are certainly more powerful bikes but the 1125 shouldn't ever leave you feeling like it is sluggish. Something is definitely wrong and I don't think it is the flash. Removing the inner airbox will just make it louder, it won't really make it any faster. |

Hey Stu, in the 1st 1500 miles my 1125R also seemed to struggle through the last few thousand RPM's amd I thought it felt a bit flat too. However after another thousand miles or so it loosened up nicely and now it will mump the rev limiter quite often - higher gears included. Your bike just might need to loosen up as well. |

That's possible - but on the other hand mine ran like a scalded cat from day 1 and it took a supreme effort of will to keep to the running in regime (which i failed LOL). It should pull right up to the redline in almost every gear, mine certainly does. Flash version is somethingt he dealer can tell you - but TBH it soesn't sound like that. Were the butterflies definately fully open when you looked inside? There have been pictures posted on here before about how they look fully open. "managed to get it up to 120" doesn't even sound like an 1125. Mine pulls 130+ on the bypass on the way in to work and only slows down as there's a set of traffic lights at the end! I had a TLS immediately prior to the Buell and the Buell is a LOT faster |
