i have an '09 R model with just over 400mi on the clock. after i'm done riding and i have shut everything off, there is a sound the bike makes and it sounds exactly like when you first turn the key on - like a servo or something. this goes on for a few minutes then stops. it seems to happen more frequently when it's really warmed up then the time between it happening gets longer as it sits until it stops. anyone? thanks! |

Fuel pump. They all do it, I think it's to assist in hot start if you were to restart it right away. |

yeah but i have an '08 1125R and it's never done it after shutting off - the '08 only does it when i first turn on the key. the '09 has been doing it after riding and i shut it off. if y'all say it's good, i'm not gonna worry. thanks! |

Yea...complete and total WASTE of battery power and fuel pump longevity. My ol, 03, R1 has just over 99,000 miles on it, it does NOT cycle the fuel pump (or fan) after shutdown and it has started EVERY time since new, during any hot start (and cold!), and has never had a cooling problem...! Funny thing...none of my other bikes in 20+ years have had this malady either. Mike |

the only time I hear the noise after shut down is if the gas cap is not making a completed seal. |

My 08 has done it since day one. No worries, causes no problems. |

It is normal, and variable. The computer reads fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Vapor lock (fuel turning to vapor) shows as a drop in fuel pressure. If the computer shows a drop in pressure during cool-down, it cycles the fuel pump (as noted above, for cleaner restarts) to keep pressure up at the rail/injectors - by pumping liquid fuel into the rail to take the place of any vaporized fuel. Can you *imagine* the crap that would be flying around if people had hiccup-hot-restarts??? In the words of some random "motorcycle guy" from the '90s: "just go ride the motorcycle." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW8tAKG4rr0 If the noise bothers you, close the garage door behind you and ignore it. Or...go ride some more, and delay the noise for a couple more hours |

ok, that's what i wanted to hear. i figured it was something with keeping fuel in the line because it's the same sound when the key is turned on. i was only concerned b/c my '08 has never done it after shutdown. so i'm going out to ride now! |

My 09 Cr does it all the time after it gets warmed up. Sounds like it possessed but I have learned to live with it. If I wear my aluminum hat it cant read my mind any more..... Cheers Mark |
