Noticed this on a routine belt inspection, make sure you guys keep checking belts at least weekly, i do mine as if it were a chain that needed lubing before each ride. No obvious damage at all, the lower rubber part of the belt is separating from the upper, at 2 different locations on the belt.

The problem obviously stems from the fact that you have a screw driver in your belt. I would highly recommend not storing your tools there. Thanks for the reminder though, it's time to do a little poking around myself.

Just out of interest do you normally have the belt guards on? |

8000 (12000 km) miles thats roughly where mine spit the belt out the back end and left me on the side of the road good ting i was only like 5 blocks from home so I just pushed her after going back to grab the belt. 3 weeks later moco installed a new one under warranty |

I look at mine about once a week and after 36,000 miles, it still looks the same as before. |

I just found a rock embedded in the one I replaced after my recent accident. It apparently got in between the sprocket and belt, and the sprocket drove it completely through the belt. There is also a small ding in the same place on every 5th tooth or so on the sprocket (which was also replaced). |

All these folks with belt guards and damaged belts. Took my belt guards off day 1 and my belt is still perfect. Ergo, belt guard are destroying belts! j/k Excellent reminder to check those belts. Thanks! YMMV, Nels |
