Hi guys, i was searching for an answer concerning if it is OK to use a K&N filter with the Erik Buell Racing pump gas ECM and the stock exhaust.. Or should i use the OEM filter for the combination of Erik Buell Racing ECM and stock exhaust? Thanks @all |

I believe the Erik Buell Racing ECMs are tuned with a "free flowing air filter" which to me implies K&N. BTW K&N did a great job on this air filter as it seals perfectly....god knows they took their time on it! |

I have a stock 1125Cr. I was contemplating ordering an ECM from Erik Buell Racing and a filter. What differences did you guys notice(who have the stock exhaust with the Erik Buell Racing ecm for pump gas) in performance? I basically use the bike at the track these days. Thanks |

The k&n has no power gains over stock filter, but it is washable and a good price as 2 oem filters costs as much as the k&n. |

The K&N also allows small children as well as small animals to get by though. |

there has been some debate on whether to use K&N filter over stock. |

The K&N also allows small children as well as small animals to get by though. Are you serious or are you referring to the enormous amount of air going thru the intake?} |

I have used both with the Race ECM and I would be willing to bet you a hundred bucks that you couldn't tell which filter was installed. I don't think it makes a bit of difference. The stock filter breathes extremely well and the racers use it over the K&N... The only benefit is being able to clean and re-oil the filter. |

Hi Easy. I have to say, I'm really impressed by the amount of detail of your report. Many and all avenues seem to have been explored. Very nice work! Just to support your position, on this web page you will find Tim Barker's dyno curve on his test bike, I believe it was someone named Taylor Knapp's Buell race bike, and it was purchased by Dennis and Chase McFarland of McFarland Racing who live up here in Ukiah, CA with yours truly if I'm not mistaken. http://www.barkersexhaust.com/atv-utv-motorcycle-e xhausts/vmchk/Motorcycle/Buell/1125-R/Buell-1125-R -Slip-On-Exhaust.html I called Tim Barker to ask him "what are the 3 lines on your dyno curve???" He explained to me that the first was stock and the second with his pipe on, I believe, stock ECM. I would have to ask him again to be sure. Perhaps not. He wanted to test it again with the K&N filter, but others did not. He insisted, and they ran the bike again with the last, very impressive result. So, after talking to him two more times since, and after you posting your own meticulous research, I would have to agree that a "high flowing" filter can make a difference. Thanks for taking the time to do all that research, Easy. You got my attention. -Tutt |
