so i rounded up all the seals and a new sleeve for my 08 1125r with the 09 updated clutch cover/piston/sleeve set up on it since that had started leaking last week. put it all back together last night and while i was i kept looking at these 2 orings for the piston. each one had a flare and a groove on one side of it. after awhile of looking through the book and trying to decide which way they should go on(no mention of it in the book...) i put them on the way i thought. put it all back together bled it and called it a night. got to work this morning only to have a new kit(one of the back ordered until november kits) show up for a customers bike(on a side note the new in sealed package kit is missing one of the 2 orings for the piston sleeve...) anyway as i was looking through the new parts because i noticed i couldnt see a second oring, i started looking over the instructions. low and behold the damn sheet that comes with it says which way to face the flares and obviously i just HAD to put them backwards... so looks like in a few days when i get time i get to take it back apart and switch the seals around.( it will have to wait because i work 9am-7pm today, 9pm-3am tonight, and 9am-7pm thursday then fit in the gf's birthday thurs night. im gona be tired) atleast i just have to take the puck off and pop the piston out. what fun. oh well. other then this it has been basically trouble free in the 10,000 miles, and this is pretty minor. |

You actually thought you were going to have put them in the right way? Sorry man, I know how it is: no matter what you do or how many times you second-guess yourself, you will always have done it backwards. |

Shoulda put them in opposite of the other one, then you would have at least had one correct.

it will more then likely take me longer to re bleed it then to take it apart and swap the orings around. |

Can someone refresh my memory, the new piston sleeve kit was from the 2010s, right? The 08s and 09s are plagued with the eventually leaking clutch fluid. I just asked cause I dropped off my 09 at the dealer for the stator harness and it had a smidge of fluid underneath the puck....I asked them to get the new piston sleeve ordered for future installation |

the 08's had the original design. then they had an 09 design that was put on the leaky 08's now there is another new design off of the 10's |

Can you imagine how nice our bikes are going to be once they get sorted out. Everything is more sophisticated on the 1125's yet many things are the still same, a need for improved reliability, ride-ability, and performance. |

mine has great reliability, and for sure ride-ability and performance. hell i could have just kept riding it for awhile. it barely had a seep. ive had vehicles with alot worse leaking problems that i drove for years and never gave a thought. ive had no other real issues with the bike since i bought it and its an early 08. and this will take me all of 15 minutes to straighten out. heck it wouldnt have taken me 30 min to do right the first time if i had gotten that one extra part i needed the first time. |

his thread reminds me mine is seeping again 4th or 5th time now i can't remember. The first and only fix on my 08 has been rock solid so my opinion is your service department is doing something incorrectly.} |
