Whew, looks like a lot of work! Great job. Do you have any video of the cat jumping 5 feet in the air when you fire the Helicon up? Jeff |

so what are you hoping to gain by relocating the air temp sensor? cooler air so it adds more fuel? looks like the vinyl layed down pretty nicely. i doubt it would turn out that good if i tried it lol. |

Yes it was a lot of work, have replaced the rear subframe too as that got twisted in the crash too. By relocating the air temp sensor i hope to see the air temp accurately haha But seriously it works much better there, when riding it reads accurate ambient temps and much better when in traffic, still creeps up but much slower than the stock location, wasn't looking for any performance gains, there have been many threads about that and all proved to be a waste of time. Couple of questions. Did you try to use the heat gun to shrink the vinyl in order to make the compound curves on the gas tank? Can we get a close up picture of the pinstripe on the gas tank that covers the seams? And have you given any thought to clearing the vinyl? Looks great by the way. How much vinyl did you order? thanks |

Ill take a couple of pics shortly, clearing or cleaning ? To clean i have just used water and a soft cloth/spoge. Just used a hairdryer, do a search for a thread i did a few weeks ago, it has video links to the same vinyl being applied. |

You must have a great deal of patience, not to mention being good with your hands Not only is the vinyl following all those complex curves you line up the weft marks at each seam...that's impressive. Is the vinyl going to hold up to weather/bugs/washing well? I've got no experience with the stuff. Nice work M8. |

Hey! That's my caliper! It is weird seeing something that was on my bike on someone else's - particularly one across the ocean. Given the state of the bike after the crash, I am impressed. Really clean work. |

Thanks Ratsmc, the caliper is a nice touch dont ya think When you reinstalled my black caliper, does the wheel spin freely after the brakes have been applied ? Mine binds slightly, i can spin the wheel by hand but only get 3 quarter turn then it stops, thought it was master cylinder but changed that too and still binding ? have replaced complete braking system now except the line., i dont know why it's happening. |

How's the GSX-R MC doing for you? Also what's that on the left side with the "31 10 10"? Some kind of registration? |

Looks great! I have some 3M™ Di-Noc™ vinyl coming tomorrow. Plan on wrapping the frame/swingarm of my 1125CR first and then see about wrapping some other parts... |

WOW! That's a LOT of careful work to get that result. I could see me attempting vinyl wrap: peel/stick... wrinkle... PROFANITY... I gotta get a beer and calm down. Peel/stick #2... STRETCH, wrinkle MORE PROFANITY... I gotta get another beer... wad of vinyl #2 thrown in corner on top of wad #1 Peel/stick #3... smarter this time... stretch, heat gun, careful slicing, careful placement... DANG IT - more wrinkles! Peel off... wad of vinyl #3 thrown in corner of with wads 1 and 2. Time for a few beers. Peel/stick #4... one sixpack later... we're looking good now, slicing, dicing, laying down. Couple more beers to congratulate myself. Next day wakeup (sober)... HOW the F did I convince myself that I'd like this crappy, wrinkled vinyl job... Dear Badweb - HOW DO I GET THIS VINYL OFF MY BIKE? I NEVER could have done that much vinyl on those curved surfaces and had it look that good! (I have tried... maybe not enough beer?) |

Yes it's the 3M™ Di-Noc™ vinyl. Let me know how it goes Buellsruell and good luck The GSXR mc is a huge improvement, BUT..... it does foul the fairing brace on full lock when turning left, i found this out today when pulling into a petrol station and then steering towards the pumps slowly, the front brake went on and i almost dropped it !!!!!!! So i will have to fix this week, i was out with a mate on his 750 GSXR which has the same MC, his brakes are far superior, we were switching bikes all day and his brakes have much much better initial bite and seem to get better the harder you pull the lever. Going to switch pads again (this will be the forth make now)and if there still is not a big improvement i will ditch the whole front end and go for a twin disc setup and be done with it. |

"I could see me attempting vinyl wrap: peel/stick... wrinkle... PROFANITY... I gotta get a beer and calm down. " -------------- Unlike most cast/intermediate, etc, vinyl out there, this series of vinyl is MADE for "wrapping" and is fairly "user friendly". I actually make and sell decals "part time", and here is some text from one of my eBay auctions regarding this vinyl that may help if you are weary of doing what Paul did (and I will be doing soon): "Technical notes: This brand of vinyl is called "3M™ Controltac™ Film with Comply™ Performance": "Controltac™" refers to a very special adhesive which actually allows the installer to be able to RE-position the graphic as many times as necessary until it is in the correct position. Try doing THAT with other vinyls! This is achieved by the presence of microscopic glass beads embedded in the adhesive itself. Once you apply pressure with your squeegee, the tiny glass beads are fractured and the graphic is now "permanent" (but don't worry- when you want to remove it, simply HEAT it and peel it off). "Comply™" refers to the cross hatched channels in the adhesive (see pic). These channels allow trapped to air to escape when firm pressure is applied towards the perimeter of the graphic. What does that mean for you?? NO BUBBLES!!" ----- There are a lot of instructional vids on YouTube that will help you to install the Di-Noc vinyl as well... |

Nice work! You'd really give up that amazingly light ZTL wheel and brake just for different brake feel? |

Blake it's not so much the feel, more the lack of stopping power, i need to ride another 1125 so i can compare the 2 bikes, but this ZTL set-up just does not work for me. Looks the part and for normal riding it would be fine, but when i get a lick-on it gives me no confidence and does not scrub off speed fast enough. |

Sounds like something else must be wrong with your calipers. When I rode the 1125 at mid ohio, I had little doubt that I could easily flip the bike at any speed with two fingers. The system has less mass (as Blake says, a good thing) so you may have to be a little more careful about pads and fluids if you are racing (lots of stops in anger in a short period)... and maybe go to a slightly thicker rotor (I really like my Erik Buell Racing 6mm rotor upgrade on the Uly). Nice wrap! I wonder how it would look on my kids KX-60, and it would survive on a gas tank... |

What Reep said! Erik Buell Racing is running in AMA Superbike with the ZTL-II setup and Danny Eslick won the Daytona Spot Bike championship last year with the ZTL system. There must be something seriously wrong with you brake system, air in the lines most likely. |

Trust me it is not air in the lines, it's been an ongoing problem for me, parts replaced so far are..... Pads x 3 sets different makes Disc is now Erik Buell Racing 5mm finned with fitting kit Master cylinder now a nissin radial Brake fluid DOT 5.1 Even tried different bleeding tools It's not user error, it's not the parts i'm using, it has to be the set-up ? The only other factor is that ever since i got the bike the front brakes have been binding slightly no matter what i do, the dealer done the brake line re-route to and still the brakes bind, i can spin the wheel half a turn then it will stop ? I will call into a local bike shop near Brandshatch race circuit and ask them to take a look for me, and if still no joy i will be ripping the bike apart again (Message edited by Avalaugh on August 02, 2010) |
