Heres another thread on this topic .. However after reading almost every page on the web here and other forums, prior and post my harness update thought I would post up. Heres whats happened: A week ago a friend of mine had his 1125R harness recall done .. he rode it home then to work the next day .. voltage dropped to 11.8 .. then didnt start .. took back to dealer ..and they admitted they incorrectly connected the harness ?? he got it sorted and all good .. bike is constant at 13.9 - 14.1 So a week later my turn ... Bike went to dealer to have harness recall done. All checked seemed ok .. Rode home and during the 20 mins .. i noticed that the voltage at idle was dropping .. from 13.8 down to 12.2 - 12.6 .. ( thinking to myself i have read this on bad web ...) humm .. got home and checked the solenoid connectors and harness connectors .. all seemed ok .. Rode to work the next day ... voltage was max at 12.6 ... dropped to 11.8 when I turned off ...HUMMMM .... Time to go home ... IT STARTED !!! WOW .. ok monitored voltage and went from 12.4 - 11.0 tried to keep the revs up when at 11.0 however no difference.. Called dealer ... booked in again .. Diagnosed problem as Stator .. (Luckily HD AUS has stators in stock ) .. 3 days later bike running again .. Rode home however noticed that max voltage was 13.9 .. never hit 14 .. like my mates and others here on badweb .. HUMM .. At idle ... voltage started dropping agian !!! WTF !!! Called dealer ... they told me that all was good from their perspective when it was there .. and to book it back in... the service manager did say that the IC doesnt give a 100% reading of voltage .. but they would have a look .. regardless of my mates bike being at 14V. Not happy with that I got the Service Bulletin from my mate George.. read the 7 pages 5 times .. started to investigate .. Followed the diagnostics instructions on Page 6 .... SUB-HARNESS Continuity Test pass SUB-HARNESS Resistance Test pass RELAY 12V .. fail .. should be 12V measured 0.2V SO .. the diag advised if no 12V perform the active intake solenoid 12V Test. Active intake Solenoid 12V Test .. fail .. should be 12V measured 0.2V .. HUMMMM !!! no 12v present troubleshoot the engine wire harness ... So ... Looked at the Bulletin again .. checked the harness install all ok .. then looked at where they add the wire to pin 21 on the black connector on the ECM .. Seems that the tech cannot count ... They connected the ECM Lead terminal to pin 20 !!!! So today ... i followed the instructions to open the connector .. move the ECM Lead terminal to pin 21 .... Started bike up .... checked the battery terminals ... 14.0 V Bike warmed up ... checked the IC .. 14.1 V ...at idle .. turned on high beams .. indicators .. brake lights dropped to 13.8 .. then a min later back up to 14.0V .. So ... check the pin that they connect the ECM Lead from the relay to ... I dont have the electrical diag manual .. but dont know what pin 20 does .. or when the 12V rail is applied ... So ... CHECK THE ECM CONNECTOR ENSURE ITS IN PIN 21 |

Man, I'll be all over that if my volts drop. Great detail and info. Subharness replaced today. |

I don't know what to make of my harness. Cruising it is in the 14's, as high as 14.4 indicated on the IC, but idle it drops into the 12's, 12.5 lowest. I assume this is correct, but i'll check for 12v at the relay and pin 21. |

if you just look at the Black ECM connector .. there are 4 rows ... second from the bottom and 3rd pin from the right (as you are looking at it) is pin 20 which is where the ECM relay wire was connected to .. the correct pin is the 4th pin from the right. per the picture attached.
Instructions on how to unclip the plug and correct pin location is clearly written in the Service Bulletin... would be great for these people to follow the instructions .. |

Is that the top connector or bottom connector? Nevermind, after looking at both, it's definitely the top one(bigger holes). Mine has a pin in the 4th hole, nothing in the 3rd. (Message edited by Bueller4ever on July 22, 2010) |
