Ok I have a little leak on the right side of the bike. Looks like the engine oil temp sensor??? If that is accurate... Anyone have this and know what to do?

Might want to have it checked out so it doesn't turn into this:

Yeah it's cracked...engine seized while I was riding and cracked. Dealer said it's probably the oil pump gave out, but what do they really know? |

Just hope this flaw doesn't raise its ugly head after our warranty periods are up. |

Ahhh, the joy's of an extended warranty. Sure, it cost me a little more, but I don't have to worry about it now either. However, that looks kinda like oil coming out of the water pump weep hole. Bigger pic available? Kinda tough to tell from that little one. (Message edited by d_adams on July 22, 2010) |

i think you have a blown head gasket, which means oil in the coolant. the oil/coolant mix is coming from the water pump weep hole. Or your coolant is dirty. |

this whole discussion is making me nauseous. I'm not saying that it's not valuable, or that you shouldn't have it. Quite the contrary. It just makes me sick thinking about this stuff happening to my engine that for 5 hours today kept me smiling. Here's to hoping it never happens to anyone else ever again (I'll raise a small glass of bourbon as a toast as soon as I'm done typing this). |

FWIW.... The new engine and labor cost HD $9500.... thats unrealistic and a horrible justification for an extended warranty. i am a B+ / A- track day rider and at once a month atleast, my 19k engine will probably not see 50k miles before i blow it up. yet im not scared. a call to Erik Buell Racing, and a weekend will net me a new 1125r or 1125rr engine for a fraction of that 9500 cost.. IN FACT, 1125's arent even worth half of 9500... you could buy a whole spare bike for 6000 if you were really worried about blowing up an engine.. atleast at that point you would have a spare of every single thing on your bike at a little over $5000... an extended warranty is a complete waste of time and money IMO. |

Well we all have our opinions, but for $1700 with tire and wheel warranty...I'd call it money well spent. |

> i am a B+ / A- track day rider and at once a month atleast, > my 19k engine will probably not see 50k miles before i blow it up. I've got way more more than 150 track days on my motor -- nearly 10k track miles in addition to some 30,000 street miles. It's a bit down on power now, but still solid. They are good motors, and actually run better and hold up better IMHO when ridden in a spirited fashion. |

Ok hears the update: Turns out the leak was coming from the little weep hole above that section, if you look towards the front of the bike through the exhaust headers you can see it . Another feat of excellent engineering by the folks at Rotax/Buell. In such an event like this that either water or oil leaks through seals this will be the tell tale before the engine blows up or something. At first the dealer thought it was the seal deep inside behind the impeller and pump shaft. Turns out it was the actual shaft itself that looks like it was bent!! It's all back together and not leaking for now. Let's see If it lasts. So for now no blown head gasket (Message edited by Betzy on August 01, 2010) |
