i have a 2009 1125R with approx 8000kms on it. it has the following: HMF pipe E...B...R HMF Race ECM (pump gas) K&N Air Filter Crank Case Breather Bypass De-Noided Stator Harness Upgrade * i run nothing but 94 Octane fuel with NO ETHANOL it ran beautifully for a while after all the upgrades were installed. they were done at approx 4000kms....so i have gotten about 4000kms out of it without a single issue. lately it has been acting up. it feels 'CHOPPY' between 3000-4000 rpm. i have heard it referred to as 'surging' & that may just be what i am experiencing with mine....i just describe it differently. also, my idle is erratic....close to 1400, but not very steady. i have done NUMEROUS TPS resets as described here on the forum. that doesnt seem to help smooth it out again. what should i be looking into: send the ECM back for a flash? change my plugs? pull the ECM & re-install? ????? suggestions please! thanks, paulie |

I don't think you can find much precision running between 3 & 4,000. I know my stock 09 R is a complete idiot down there no matter what gear. Its just not made to be a cruiser from what I seen. |

Honestly if I were you I'd pull the o2 sensors and see how she runs - I know others on here may not agree and give flack over this, but its worth a shot - mine ran like a POS when I ran with the o2's. |

Both of mine work fine, and spend 99% of their life between 2k and 4k. One has a Race ECM, the other doesn't. Pdawg1970, what are your current AFV? |

No use looking at AFV with the Erik Buell Racing race ECM, the AFV are reset to 100% every time the ignition key is turned on. |

as Dj said...its reset to 100% each time i turn it on. its going to the dealer today for a new stator & the clutch weep 'repair'. i will ask them to take it for a test ride, but dont expect them to find anything 'wrong' enough with it to warrant them putting on the dyno for diagnostic under warranty. i discussed it with them yesterday & they said 'TUNING' wasn't covered under warranty..... as soon as its back it is going on the chopping block....i've had enough: 2009 1125R, Arctic White & Hero Blue, 8000mks(+/-), HMF Candy Blue Pipe, HMF Race ECM, K&N, De-noided, Crank breather bypass, Tech-Spec USA SS gripper kit, Buell frame pucks, Blue shorty 'pazzo-like' levers, Blue skull grips & all stock parts.....FIRST $7000 |

Disconnect the O2 sensors. Ride it some, odds are it will smooth out immediately. The race map is pretty good, even without them and it may be "hunting" for the sweet spot instead of just running like it should. |

it feels 'CHOPPY' between 3000-4000 rpm. Wasn't that the point of the smaller throttle bodies planned for the 2011 bikes? Although that was probably to compensate for the EPA mandated lean mixtures. There probably isn't much you can do with a canned tune. I would think with a custom tune, either with the expensive Buell Racing kit, or ECMread, or a Power Commander, you might be able to address that. Dean gave me a thought, would wideband sensors/autotune work with the race ECM? Would it be worthwhile? If it is resetting the AFV's every time, I am guessing no. |

can you just unplug the sensor and go without setting an error code? I have one of the first Erik Buell Racing ECMs mapped for open exhaust. It's damn good but surges a little in this range as well. I was planning to send in for reflash |

You could just down shift a gear and enjoy the better throttle response, more crisp acceleration, and smoother running motor. |

i found a solution: i traded my 1125R for a 2008 ZX10R. no more surges, no more issues. sorry Buell......after owning 4 of your bikes i am still not sold on them. thanks to everyone on here for all your help & advice. all the best! paulie |
