It amazes me how you guys can second guess and bad mouth work you were not there to witness and have no idea of the detail and hard work involved. And the last pipe was one of the lowest, how did that work???? |

And the last pipe was one of the lowest, how did that work???? i didnt figure this one would be received any different then the xb one we did way back. if the pipe a person likes/built fared well then the facts are correct, if the pipe a person likes/built didnt do as well as expected, then the facts have been twisted around and the tests werent done correctly. ah i feel like i traveled back in time, and the results arent even out yet lol. and by some of the recent statements i can guess somethings that didnt fair so well i guess... |

With all the interest this is generating, Al should try to get an exclusive on Speed Channel to announce the results. Watch LeBron on ESPN tonight for some pointers! |

Tim, you are right. I remember when the XB shootout came out. There were a lot of unhappy campers. Honestly, Al needs to be paid for this work. It is not a trivial task to compile accurate results, document and still manage to be impartial. I can say to you that Al is an honest guy and that is the bottom line. He's a straight shooter. |

If you read the exhaust results when they're published, you should thank Al by buying something from American Sportbike. Even if you just buy filters and sparkplugs, it will be the least you can do to return the favor of his huge expense and effort to conduct this test and his continual support of our relatively tiny community. and dont forget everyone else that volunteered time and equipment for this to be accomplished also! i know the weekend of dyno runs for the xb shootout was a VEEEEEERY long weekend indeed. everyone was exhausted(no pun intended lol) and i didnt even have anything to do with all the work after the dyno stuff was over with... |

I can tell you that the day the shootout results come out I'll be placing an order fo' sho', and I don't even need it! I already have my Barker's!! (Gripster pads, fork/swingarm sliders, and service items). I appreciate Al and all his work — both on A-S-B and the shootout. I can wait for however long it takes, though. |

So many experts...with not a real clue...! If you don't like the results....go do your own testing...to suit yourself. See what it takes...! It's been said MANY times...and it's STILL true...any "dyno" work (values) will be different, depending on the dyno setup, the operator, the day (despite the correction factors), brand of dyno. The age of software may even play a part in the outcome. Al and company have gone to a lot of work to complete this testing. Buy into the results or don't. If you don't like it...do what your momma should have told you...."if you can't say anything nice...just shut the F**K up". Mike |

I appreciate Al and all his work — both on A-S-B and the shootout. I can wait for however long it takes, though. You got that right. I will be giving Al free time to finish the damn results already, THEN I will place my orders. |

The work is all done, I've sent the report and the data to the manufacturers for a review so that I can correct any errors. The data is what the data is. We didn't cheat or favor any pipe, we did our best to follow the same procedures on each. There's several things I'd do differently if we had it to do over again, but I suspect that would ALWAYS be the case. Those issues are covered in the report. Once I roll the feedback from the manufacturers into the report, we'll publish it. It won't be long. Al |

Al: Thank you. You and Joanne continue to represent all that is good about the motorcycling community. It's folks like you that continue to fuel my enthusiasm. Court P.S. - I run a stock exhaust and have no interest in changing. But I know your technical abilities and will be excited to see the results. Most of all . . just "thank you". |

I personally would like to chastise Al for all the work he has done. There has been more than one occasion where I have invited Al over to my place to drink my beer and his reply was, "I'd love to, but I gotta work on the Shootout". Apparently, this stupid Shootout is more important than my precious beer. Al (and others) has worked his tail feathers off and all some people can do is complain. At least, mine is a legitimate complaint. |

Reindog,I agree!!We all worked our butts off on this,Al,Terry,David(who not only lent his bike but helped wrench with me on pipes and helped with sound testing etc)and myself. This was alot of work, making sure everything was done the same for each and every bike, each time, so we could keep the parameters the same. |

Although I no longer own an 1125, I'm very eager to see the results for this test. Al and crew have done an amazing job here, much like the original XB shootout. Like many others, I'd like to praise him for the effort. This kind of attention is UNHEARD of in most other enthusiast circles. Given how small the Buell community is, the level of dedication provided here is unparalleled. Thanks Al. |

Thank you "Al et al". Obviously this much anticipated document will provide us all with the ability to make an informed and intelligent (and emotional charged!) procurement of the system to meet our needs. This is a significant contribution to the community. ....my hat is tipped.... |

The Buell community is extremely lucky to have top notch companies such as JT+S and American Sport Bike. Last year, Laurie and I limped in to JT+S on my Uly and they dropped what they were doing to get us back on the road to continue our 2K mile California ride. I can assure everyone that the Shootout was done in a professional, unbiased, and a scientific manner. |

Easyrider this is directed at you! You have got to love the craftsmanship of your pipe it really has the quality of a BP pipeline and it has aesthetics of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. As for all that rhetoric about its performance it is about as believable as an Obama campaign speech. Just to put it bluntly. That said I feel better. You are way to sensitive about this subject. I am sure you are a good tuner and I am sure with your tuning you can make the Torque Hammer perform but with your tuning ability a lot of the other pipes have more potential than the torque Hammer. One more thing, I didn’t see that Erik Buell Racing had a programmed ECM for your pipe. Why is that? I noticed most of the other pipes that were tested Erik Buell Racing has ECMs for them. I hope you can take a joke and handle a little criticism! Don’t just focus on the bad I also complimented you. Besides if you ride a Buell we are all family! Al and JT&S did everything possible to do this comparison with only one variable and that variable was the pipe. Any one knows you have to approach this like a scientist and utilize the ‘scientific method”. It is not feasible to tune each pipe for optimum performance rather to choose map or tune that will show each pipes potential as adequately as possible. I rode the bike with almost every pipe that was tested so after Al tells all I would be happy to tell my personal feelings. |

oh yea, by the way, you must be suffering from a lack of understanding because the learning curve ended up with the pipe having the least amount of space, below the curve, at the end. You should be happy with mediocrity at least you didnt have the least performing pipe but you did have the most appalling. so at least you walked away with some sort of title. |
