Since i had the 1125 in the shop for a bad stator and i was going to fix the pesky coolant weep that required a rotation. I removed the entire exhaust and brought it to Pete at Grand Stand Designs for ceramic coating. The finish is called chrome x (i'm sure the mfg would not spell it this way)
I love the way it came out, I was nervous that the silver would clash with the black but it makes the large ugly muffler pop, I don't want more noise(at least not a lot) Got a lot of great reviews at the shop today. Wish i knew how to post a larger picture Thought i'd share, Bob

Are you noticing a cooler running ride? |

Dan, As far as coolant temp or rider comfort? I only got a 10 mi loop on her for a test and she went on the truck. Hopefully Sunday morning will tell. The coolant temps where normal and i use full gear so i haven't been bothered too much with rider comfort. On the Uly i also had the header coated and i would say it did increase rider comfort, I never did install the heat shield from the comfort kit. Bob |

I will give you the benefit of the doubt cause both the R and CR are MUCH better looking in real life. Some things are just not photogenic. |

That's one sexy gordita of an exhaust you have there. Me likey... all of these skinny aftermarket exhausts just don't do it for me. Give me a free flowing chubby stocker (that doesn't need packing)--- how refreshing. And all chromed up like that, there's a statement. It honors Buell and mocks Harley-Davidson at the same time... |

I have thought about doing the same thing. How much did that cost? |

That looks really crazy. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around a giant chromed muffler. Kudos. |

Large shot is great on detail. Still not sure what I think about that. It's almost stunning (like a bright light or high voltage charge lol). I just don't know...but it's definitely different. Nice work: you've managed to boggle my mind |

True, but you'd need to do the headers to make it all match. I don't know if they have an exchange on headers or something like that. It does look pretty cool on the stock can though. |

Pete does have a set of 08 headers on the wall that i'm petty sure he would do an exchange. 09 moved the o2's |

Was that $225 for the muffler AND headers? American Sportbike gets $200 for just the headers. ac |

How will it look after a few thousand miles, and after a good bit of abuse maybe some blueing would make it look even more badass Or will it just come off and look dog ? |

If I read this right its not chromed but rather a ceramic with a chrome type finish. ceramics tend not to blue like chrome. |

Avalaugh - I ceramic coated my S1 swing arm many, many years ago (>12) when there was some sort of recall. I asked the dealer if I could have the swingarm first. It is just like paint and has held up great w/no maintenance at all. |

I am having my headers and Burns exhaust ceramic coated silver at: Maryland Performance Coatings Ste C, 5360 Enterprise Street Sykesville, MD 21784-9914 (410) 549-6122 They are recommended by HDFR, the local (formerly) Buell race shop. I believe the price he quoted me for the headers and muffler was around $150. I will post up once they are complete and installed. |
