Got caught in a 20 minute downpour this afternoon. Neutral light came on and stayed on. The gear indicator didn't work either. The bike would die when I'd pull in the clutch. Had to start it every time at slow speeds since I didn't want to dump the clutch on wet roads. Not real happy right now. Oh, and my GPS turned off a couple of times. If the voltage drops below a certain point, it cuts power to the accessory plug. I am starting to get concerned about the reliability of the motorcycle - electrically, anyway. Wow that sucks...Only thing I can suggest is look at all the connectors, maybe spray some WD40 on them or dry them off with a hair dryer. Generally they do good in the rain though...Probably 1/4 of my miles are from riding in the rain. |

It's worth checking your air filter, too. I've been caught in a couple of turd floaters and had the stalling engine problem until the filter dried out. |

he he, I've gotten caught in a rainstorm also, and had issues. My left turn signal just started blinking after riding through one about three weeks ago. It finally stopped about 20 miles later. I'm assuming the electrical connections under the flyscreen need to be coated with some die-electric grease |

Never had an issue with paper filters on either my 1125's nor my XB that has an open airbox. I don't trust the K&N, last thing you need is it bleeding oil and gunking up your sensors. I enjoy riding in downpours and do it all the time, never had my 1125's skip a beat or do anything unusual, something is amiss here. |

I don't know about that last one - I drove into Houston one day after 13 inches fell in 11 hours. In the late 70s, 7 miles from my folk's house between Houston and Galveston, the Weather Service registered 39 inches in 24 hours. Granted, that was a Cat5 hurricane... Z |

Well, it was a definitely gully washer. In fact, I was riding with another guy. I got a little in front of him and he said a small pickup truck spun out right in front of him. He's lucky to be alive. I went out and checked the bike a few hours later after it had time to dry out a bit. The gear indicator/neutral light are working normally. I have a feeling it won't stall anymore either. I have no idea where to being troubleshooting so I'm not going to do anything more than to remove the headlight cowl and check the connections. The CR has been working great other than the voltage inconsistency and the issues from yesterday. I hope yesterday was an isolated incident although I've never had issues being caught in heavy downpours on my Suzukis. We shall see... |

as you check the connectors it would be nice if you had a tube of dielectric grease so you can put grease on the inside of the connectors,that will waterproof the connectors you use it on..it really does work.... |
