I have an '09 CR and recently removed the noid solenoid assembly just to clean things up a bit. I made sure to line everything back up when putting the box and seal and hoses back on, and now i get some nasty popping out of my fmf exhaust. My AFV are F 110 and R 100. Seems to run ok just decel pops like a bitch now. don't know what else to check |

The small rubber hose on the right side of the airbox, did you pull it back up through the base plate of the airbox? |

It's flush with the hole not pulled all the way thru, should it be sticking out? |

Yeah, I think it was 10-15 mm. |

I don't see any correlation between the two |

IF the airbox isn't installed correctly (including the tube), it can cause the throttle to act funny. Not sure how it can cause the popping unless it is some kind of intake leak, but I've seen weirder happen. Also, get an Erik Buell Racing ECM on that thing if you haven't yet! |

ok i pulled the tube thru the hole and it fixed something else i was feeling, when the bike was not running the throttle would stick before i would have to fully return it. So thats fixed, but took it on a ride and still pops like a bitch. Im gonna disconnect the battery for a few hours to reset the afv's. |

The race ecm is something you want to get for your bike, regardless of the type of aftermarket pipe you have on it. http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product70.html should fit yours. |

How many miles have you ridden the bike since installing the exhaust and fixing up the hose? Takes the ECM a good 65 miles to figure everything all out... Otherwise, pick up the Erik Buell Racing Race ECM for that exhaust! |

Disconnecting the battery won't reset the AFV's fyi.... you just need a tune.... end of story.. |

you might be getting more air in there somehow due to errors in re-assembly. the extra air would cause an over lean condition which could be the cause of your closed throttle popping. |

So in addition to that freakin' p.i.t.a. tube, it's really easy to get the rubber throttle body boot out of position when putting the whole deal back together. And if you have broken hold down tabs like I do, it's possible the top cover isn't staying seated perfectly in it's locator trench. Also, did you double check to see that the airfilter was perfectly seated? Any of these things could allow more air in. |

man i' ve checked and rechecked re-assembled and everything looks just as it should. no gaps around the seal anywhere and its a nice tight seal, tube is sticking thru just right, the top cover is good all the tabs clicked on, the filter is good, i dunno what else to freakin check. I put the noid bracket back in to make sure the housing is seated all the way down, everything seems good, maybe ill just take it on a long ride and see if anything adjusts to point me in the right direction. |

What did you seal the connections of the exhaust with? Mine popped until I sealed it with Permatex High Temp Copper Silicone http://image.gmhightechperformance.com/f/tech/8965 944+w200/0505htp_truck_15_z.jpg |

That is the identical sealer I used. I'm an auto technician and have worked on other bikes plenty of times so I'm feeling like an idiot right now lol. |

So let me see if I have diagnosed your problem correctly. You removed the restrictive stock exhaust and replaced it with a much more free flowing exhaust without changing the ECM. Do I have this correct? Now, you're wondering why it's popping on deceleration and are wondering if the solenoid had anything to do with it? Well, more than likely it's the fact that you didn't change the ECM more than anything the solenoid could do. Unless you didn't use a resistor for the solenoid, I seriously doubt that is the problem. More than likely your fuel / air mixture is out of whack. You state your fuel / air mixture is F 110 and R 100? When is this measured, at idle, low end, midrange or full throttle? Popping on deceleration can be caused by two things. A leaky exhaust or a lean condition. More than likely this is the lean condition more than a leaky exhaust. However, you can seal the exhaust with hi temp silicon sealer, but it won't help if the bike is still running lean. Get the ECM and I'll bet this problem clears right up. |

TPS reset. Easy to do, couldn't hurt. Before you do, check the TPS % in Diag mode. R |

No the exhaust has been on the bike for like 4 months, the popping started after the noid was removed. It seems to be getting a little batter the more I ride, so maybe its learning a bit. I still def want to get the E B R ECM just can't afford it right now |

Cptncreme, do you know how to check the throttle position % in diag? Confirm it's at 2% @ closed throttle, and 100% @ WOT. If not, there's your issue. R |

Could be a leak between the can and the midpipe. I had some snapping and popping with the HMF until I buttered it up with RTV high temp sealant. Fixed it. I doubt the noid has anything to do with the issue. Did you wire or cable tie the throttle cams together as reccomended? |
