So I was trying to buy another 1125 right. Found another 08 at my dealership for 6995. I was going to keep one stock, and hot rod the other one to race next season. So anyway, I apply through HDFS. My credit isn't great, but it isn't bad. Especially with Harley. It's great with Harley Financial. Anyway, they say no. But thats not the amazing part. They say no, we won't finance you for the Buell. But you do qualify for a new Dyna or Softail. And this is without paying my current note off for the 1125 that I have now!!! No trade in, just give them 15% down and I'm in the cool guy club! So I can't go 7,000 dollars further in debt for a Buell, but I can go almost 20,000 bucks further in debt to them for a Softail. I think the cost of the Buells have already been absorbed by the company. But the Hogs are stacking up on the showroom floor because no one is buying. Why else would they loose a sale and the money they were going to make off of a loan to someone with a good history with them? I told them no thanks, I wasn't in the market for a boat. Unless anyone else has another explanation? I know the salesman seemed confused by it as well. |

company doesn't technically exist anymore i doubt the underwriters are happy about those of use still making payments. chances are they would love to call the notes on those that still owe but that would lead to a pretty big shit storm so they aren't. in that light it does make sense they wont write paper on even a new one. |

maybe they're thinking resale or residual on the HD in case they have to repo it. The buell may be worth less than an HD, from a % of purchase price perspective? That's my knee jerk opinion...crazy story for sure! |

Ive had 3 bike through HDFS. My current 1125R is still with them. I wanted to go get a CR and i was offering %20 down and they still said no. But same thing, We will give you a loan for HD branded product. I think its simply that since the company no longer exists that they will not write a note on it. I was pissed. Thank god the 1125R will be paid off this year. They will never see a single cent from me again! |

HD's loan incentives and eligibility will vary by model. You could qualify for say a Fatbob but not be able to get a Rocker. I don't know the rhyme or reason, but you aren't the first one to notice it! |

Budgolf- Now why would you want to go out and buy a brand new one to race? I will sell you my 08 1125 for 4500 and it has a full race fairing and spare swingarm. Just saying |

I read an interesting article about hdfs. It seems that harley is using them to move bikes off the floor by making loans they shouldn't. They just borrowed a lot of money at 15%, it was in the 10's of millions. The article didn't think harley was going to do well. And after reading it i have to agree with them. |

They just borrowed a lot of money at 15%, it was in the 10's of millions. Now doesn't THAT sound familar? The borrowing practices of HDFS' had much to do with the demise of Buell. Looks like they are trying to keep a sinking ship afloat. F all of em. |

Now Chris, if you want to offer some financing on your race ready 08, I'm there. We do pay by allotment in the Army you know!Looks like for now, I'll be on the track next year on my old VFR. I don't expect to be real competitive, but it will be cool to have that old classic on the track. I'm going to do it up just like Fred Merkel's. And it gives me a chance to save for another Buell. |

They probably won't finance it because its worth less than that according to kbb.com motorcycle values. As of right now my dad 82 flh. Is worth more than an 1125 or an xb. Resale is shot so is value. For now that is anyways.... |

I just got an offer for 1% financing on a V-rod or one of the blacked out Sportsters. They definitely are trying to move some inventory. I have two bikes financed through HD right now, well a bike and an ATV. |

>>>They definitely are trying to move some inventory. No kidding? Look at their financial statements. . . they are in deep doo-doo and will do about anything to move a land barge. |

Your local credit union can probably get you approved if you are at least a 680 or better. |

Must be recent (since March) - can't say I ever saw someone get DQ'd for a Buell but approved for a HD at the same time. When I was there in March, they were starting to require more $ down on the Buells, and the rates were a little higher, they wouldn't give a rate break anymore if you financed back-end stuff like ESP... but nothing like "no Buell, but HD is OK". I suspect they're *rationalizing* it as "a Buell won't be worth as much if we have to repop it"... Schmucks. I talked to a friend who works at our (huh..."our", like I work there anymore) second store. As of 2 days before Homecoming...they'd sold *ONE* bike this month. Looks like I got out just in time So far this month...not knowing much of anything about the industry and being off for a week for Homecoming...*I* have sold five RV's this month! (and our dealer is at 126 units...for the month of June!) I feel bad for the footsoldiers at HD - the folks who work in the plants and for the most part, the dealer employees...but I have absolutely no sympathy for the morons running the show. They deserve whatever they get. |

"I feel bad for the footsoldiers at HD - the folks who work in the plants and for the most part, the dealer employees...but I have absolutely no sympathy for the morons running the show. They deserve whatever they get." That sentiment is certainly shared by many here. Sadly, the morons running the show all have golden parachutes to take care of themselves and will likely go on to similar high-paying jobs in other corporate environments after they run the company into the ground. I consider myself very lucky to have gotten my '09 1125R in November '09 for zero down. Jeff |

Crap. I tried to pay cash for my CR and they wouldn't let me. I had to finance the thing then send a check to pay it off. |

Ratbuell, bet that one they sold was the xbrr. Saw a post from someone on here saying they bought it and it would be prowling the tracks again soon. Somehow I think HD's 2nd quarter isn't going to be any better than the first. (Message edited by Oddball on June 26, 2010) |

Id sue the s*h! out of those people because if you can prove they said that then thats discrimination. Id talk to a lawyer get the BBB involved get the dealer fined for shady business practices. Then you can put some $$$ in your pocket and get a buell somewhere else may even get one for free. Always remember F U HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

russ - chill out. There was no discrimination. Sadly it is that sort of thinking that is part of Americas problem - I cant get what I want so I'll just sue them! I messed up so I'll blame someone else and get a payday! (not this situation, but you know what I mean) etc etc etc |

So I can't go 7,000 dollars further in debt for a Buell, but I can go almost 20,000 bucks further in debt to them for a Softail. That says it all right there fellas They will loan you $20,000 for a harley but cant do 7,000 for a buell.... That is discrimination they want you to buy the $20,000 Harley and I dont blame them, but how can they offer this guy $20,00 for a Harley but cant do $7,000 for a Buell. Im just calling them out on there BS |

Oddball - no...it's the ONE bike - HD or Buell - that they sold. Period. ONE bike, over the curb, in the middle of riding season. I sent FIVE over the curb my last weekend there...February 27/28, by the way. (Message edited by ratbuell on June 27, 2010) |
