It's interesting the Michelin fitment guide does not list the Road Pilot 2 tires for the 1125R/CR. They are listed for all the XB, M2, S1, S3 and X1 model bikes. From the 2010 fitment guide: 1125 R & 1125 CR 2008–2010 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) Pilot Power 180/55 ZR 17 (73W) Pilot Power 3.5 5.5 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) Pilot Power 2CT 180/55 ZR 17 (73W) Pilot Power 2CT 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) Power Pure 180/55 ZR 17 (73W) Power Pure 120/70 ZR 17 (58W) Power One 180/55 ZR 17 (73W) Power One |

O will for sure now put the tyres onto my XB....its ready for it. Then I will look for another dual compound type. The Dunlop seems the way to go.... |

I just got mine back from my dealer, they put a pilot road 2 on the back and did a bunch of warranty work. I wanted to make sure they installed everything correctly as i am changing the frame out, and i wanted to make sure the bike was strong going into the frame swap. I took it over 130 mph and it felt like it was on rails, completely solid. This was on a brand new (100 miles) pilot road 2 on the rear and the original stock pirelli on the front. |

I am convinced its a front tyre issue. I will know for sure when I put my XB wheel on the 1125 for a test ride. |

Can you mix the two different tire brands safely? I had picked up a nail at around 300 mi.in the rear and switched out the front as well to have a matched set. I am interested to see if the PR2 front tire is to blame. If this is the case I will throw the oem pirelli back on and keep the PR2 rear. Keep us posted. |

Ordered some Dunlop Sportsmax Q2 tyres to be fitted when I visit the UK next week. I will swap front and rear from the XB onto the 1125 before I go. Then both bikes get new rubber. Thanks Jng1226 for the endorsement! (Message edited by trafford on July 01, 2010) |

Good luck and safe riding. Let us know if it cures the problem and how you like the tires! Jeff |

This evening I swapped tyres over from one bike to the other. Wow it was hot and the sweat was pouring as it was the hottest day this year!. Next Tuesday I'll ride to UK and report on this combination. Rear Road Pilot 1 and front Dunlop. Then I'll have a new pair of Dunlop Sportsmax Q2s fitted so I can say how that works out when I return. |

Incredible hom much the Power Pure transforms the bike going from Diablos. So much more confidence inspiring. Best upgrade yet! |

Well I went to the UK. The old XB12R tyres were fine....no strange stuff on acceleration or at speed. Had new Dunlop Qualifier 2s fitted and rode 600 miles two up. Perfect manners. So it seems that the RoadPilot 2s are definitely not for the 1125r. As someone pointed out.....Michelin do not list them as an option for this model. Shame my supplier did not point this out. Would have saved a lot of hassle. |

im running michelin pure's. i had a problem with shakes on hard acceleration and have been playing with the suspension. increasing the rear preload by one notch has stopped it happening, but the ride is a bit harsher. i might try increasing the rear compression damping instead. the rebound is about 1/4 turn out from stock each end, i get better feel from the tires that way. still playing around tho |

Trafford - Here's a list of tyres that have worked well on my 1125R here in the UK Metzeler Sportec M3 - great in the rain, a little hard in the dry. Metzeler Rennsport - not much confidence in the wet but excellent in the dry, lots of grip. Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa, SC1/SC2 - fantastic in the dry and surprising good in the wet. I run the Pirellis at 33/35 psi and for my riding style they cannot be faulted. The Rennsport worked well on my old XB12R . (Message edited by Dirty_john on July 13, 2010) |
