Just got the bike back with a new stator and the harness update...It seems that ECM controls the stator output depending on the speed the bike travels at and stator voltage at low output....It seems to change between low and high output around 20 -25 Mph....During low output the ecm keeps an eye on the voltage and when idling for long periods of time the voltage will slowly drop to 12.5.Once it hits that point the stator goes back to high output till 14.1 volts is reached..Hence the stator cycles on and off below 25 mph......OK.This is not fact, but what i have noticed while riding..

That is what i've noticed as well. Rpms is not so much a factor as is speed.

I think thats because the fans turn off around that speed.

Took mine out today. The temp was well above 90F. Same experience as Samg.

Make sure the harness connections are properly made. See this link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/566073.html?1274317852

Incorrect harness connections cause the stator to run on 2 legs all the time - causing voltage drop below 13V. As soon as I had the harness connection corrected, the voltage stablized to around 14. Hasn't gone down below 13.9 V while the bike is running, regardless of the fan or temperature.

Mine seems to drop below 13v when the coolant temp goes above 196 deg. Once it drops below 196 the system seems to charge normally. RPMs don't seem to affect the voltage. I didn't notice if speed had any effect. I was in a 30 mph speed zone when I was watching it.
