This is getting really old. It's like having a puppy in the garage. If my coolant temps are over 212F when I shut down, the bike pisses a puddle of coolant overboard. Isn't this what the overflow tank is for? I have no idea how it's getting out, but it does this quite consistently now that it's hot out, and I'm sick of cleaning it off my garage floor. Is this normal? 212F doesn't seem terribly hot to be venting coolant - is it possible I've got a bad radiator cap or something? I'd really like to get this resolved before I do a track day later this year (in yet hotter weather), as I'm fairly certain pissing coolant all over the pad area is bad form (and likely to get you kicked out). Suggestions? |

Check to see if the coolant is coming out the weep hole. I'm guessing you may have another problem if it is leaking as much as you say, but if coming out the weep hole you can get it fixed under warranty. Other wise check your hoses and clamps or even the over flow tank to see if there is a hole. |

Ooooh. Good call. I haven't noticed where it's coming from. I'll check that. |

I've never seen any coolant leak. So I would say it's worth getting checked out. Any chance it was overfilled? |

The coolant reserve bottle is filled right to the line (as of a week ago, it might be a bit below at this point). The leak is on the right side, and appears to be directly under the overflow tube - I've definitely seen coolant drips on the end of it, but I'll watch next time I shut it down hot to see where exactly it's coming from (probably tomorrow afternoon). When it's cooler out (at night or in the morning), temps are typically around 190 in 80F weather - no big deal. In the afternoon, coming home from work, typically in slower traffic, with 95+ temps (and probably higher on the pavement from the heat coming up), I see 210-215F, and if I shut down over 212F, I leak. |
