So I have thought about a throttle lock for my R and thought it would help on the long rides to give my right hand a break. It seems like locking the throttle would be kind of a dangerous situation. Anybody used one before that has some good advice? If so what model are you using. thanks

vista cruise. i once rode thru town for a half mile with it on or 'locked'
whatever you put on your throttle, just make sure there is a fail safe; IE you can overpower it with your wrist if you forget about it in the heat of the moment.

it is not going to directly increase your safety like if you were to wear a bright orange reflective disco-suit. but the convenience it brings will help you be a more alert and aware rider on those longer trips, in turn making you potentially more 'safe'

I have used the early style Vista-Cruise on every street bike I've owned, wouldn't ride without one.

The ones I use are for Yamaha with single or dual cable.... about $24.00.

Only takes minor mods to the throttle tube an housing.

I use the throttlemeister. It doesn't lock the throttle out but it provides enough friction so it wont move on its own. You can still back off if needed pretty quick.
It really saves my hand on the long trips.

I have the throtllemeister on my 9s and I'll be putting them on my 1125 soon. I don't really use them much but they are nice to have when I have to shake out a numb hand (too much computer work). Plus they are extra protection if the bike falls over. My 9s fell over one day and all it did was scratch the bar end. That alone makes them worth it to me.

They also help dampen vibration! Besides, they look a lot nicer than the stock plastic plugs.

Safe if you are comfortable with your bike and your riding skills....much like not wanting a sidestand switch or self-cancelling signals.

my buddy had a throttle lock on his rocket and it got stuck on him and he went head first into a building. he has been in the hospital for about 4 months and still has another year to learn how to walk again if he can. he was actually flat lined and they brought him back. most of it was his fault being inexperineced but the throttle lock did not help
