This post discusses my torque hammer exhaust. In an earlier post, I talked about first impressions. Here is the exhaust:

That is a very complicated shape to the exterior of the exhaust. Is that part closest to the camera in the first pic just a shield? Are there two inlets to the large back part of the can? Hard to tell. |

Its just two shield plates mainly for looks. The center part is a tube. Its not so complicated. |

The Torque Hammer is about as good looking as the stock exhaust, which is to say "not very". How does it sound? |

Best things are it keeps ground clearance, sounds great and not too loud, best of all no packing material to blow out.......its all metal. It does not feel as strong as the std exhaust but it delivers |

Looks like you need to contact Dris for the ecu map that goes with his exhaust.From what I've been told it's a handful. |

I have the ECM from Dris that goes with the Exhaust. One has to remember that you cannot compare dynos. I certainly do not want to get into discussions about 'claimed' power outputs. Its a great exhaust if you want a good sound and torque spread. The std exhaust is an exceptionally well designed and efficient piece. |

The two shields are are welded to a sleeve that floats on the midpipe most likely to keep the muffler from flexing and breaking off. Who really gives a F*** how it looks? Form vs Function? Function wins every time! It's got a nice Nascar like note at speed I just got back from a 1000 mile weekend trip to West Va. Bike ran PERFECT from sea level to 2900ft above. Didn't get less than 35mpg flogging it in the hills, and 40mpg at 80mph on highway. This is an excellent product IMHO!! |

Thanks for clearing that up Mike. For some reason I thought the TH was a multi chamber design like the stock can. So it's really just a big baffled chamber with some trim pieces on the side. Hmmm. |

I realize everyone has their own priorities, but I won't mount up an ugly exhaust unless it's a) cheap and b) makes a lot more power than anything else out there. (When I look at one of my bikes, I want to think about not only how much I enjoy it but how good it looks.) It's my understanding that neither applies to the Torquehammer. It may make better power than stock, but not an especially great amount, and it's definitely not cheap. Of course if someone is happy with the performance, sound, etc of an exhaust, then there's nothing wrong with that. |

it looks like the dyno lost the tach signal which usually give a dip or spike in the run |

I think the exhaust outlet belongs on a lawn tractor but that is my opinion. Anybody know if it can be ordered with an angled slash cut outlet? Chris |

It's stainless, if you have a tig welder, material and some time, it's not too hard to modify it. |

Cravacor - According to the tech, the spikes are RF interference. 2 things seem to stick out. First, the low rpm (below 4000) horsepower is much better. The bike is smooth and accelerates well in the lower ranges. Second, In the upper ranges, the bike doesn't accelerate very aggressively. I've been very interested in the air box thread as that seems to hold a lot of promise for this exhaust/tuning combination. btw, the bike is using the twinmotorcycles tune. Bcrawf68, the run with the stock exhaust was made with the first 1125 ever i think, the date of the run is 15-12-2007, you had one of the first 1125's then, you lost somehow a lot of power. |

This is the one on mine I've got the tune installed. I've booked a couple of dyno runs to see what it looks like. I'm expecting something like the one you posted Albert. They've made a quiet module for me which I'll get with the next lot of stuff. I'd get it dyno'd with and without to see the difference. |

My system clock of my dyno-computer is frozen due a weak battery at the motherboard at September 2009. Does the dyno runs cover for this reason less information? When I interpreting dyno runs for I look at other details. The most important: Where is the peak torque located within the engine´s operation range. This is the dyno graph of your website, Easyrider: + 120 NM (+85 ft-lbs) is a real strong torque-numbers at the rear wheel. Correcting factor is actual SAE or ECE, not the inflationary old-fashioned DIN, which boosts up the figure for 3-4%? Beside of this impressive peak, the torque is located at your "promotional" dyno graph around 7500, there is the peak, with + 120-numbers from 6000 up to 8000. But the dyno graph, posted in this thread, shows a completely different shape: At 6000 there is a dip, no sign of peak torque at 7500, instead of a wide plateau, anybody you appreciate, for engine torque, when find now a small area around 8500 for its peak. This is more as just a little difference due of production tolerances, different dynos etc. The two graphs look like as they belong to two different motorcycles. |

Highscore, Yes that is correct, It is not SAE corrected, that is confusing sometimes, my mistake, when i shut down the PC, and start it up again it is not in the SAE corrected mode. When I am busy i forget to set the correction and just look at AF for tuning. There can be so many reasons why other peoples Dyno numbers can be so low, and that can cause low end power on a dyno, for example, intake temp, type of fuel, filter, sensors... Most likely, engine temp (enviromental airtemp) and that causes spark advance reduction, what takes the power out. Of course this is a guess. |
