That sounds about right... I see 210F sitting in traffic jams. If you're stuck in traffic, be careful when you get home - I wouldn't park the bike near any ignition sources. Last time I was stuck in traffic, I hit the gym after work, and the bike was furiously venting fuel for quite a while - max_flow through the vent tube, and when I pulled the fuel cap to try to depressurize it, it spent a good while boiling the fuel vigorously and venting a column of vapors. "Highly flammable" doesn't begin to cover it. AND this is with frame insulation and header wrap. I wouldn't worry until 215-220F - IIRC the overheat lamp comes on at 230F, so you're still fine at 210-215F. |

pssh, try 218 sitting in Houston traffic! From what I've read on this board, the Erik Buell Racing ECM makes the bike run richer; therefore, it runs cooler. I've also heard adding Engine Ice helps... |

im seeing 171 at an indicated 80 degrees cruising in traffic. proper fueling cools the motor quite a bit. |

My bike hit 208 degrees when I cut the engine. The cali canister did not help. Fuel vapor still escaped and stunk up my garage badly. |

I added purple ice and have the latest flash. I run about 170-174 while riding at speed in 80+ temps |

Doesn't sound to hot the bike does transfer the heat to the rider more than others. I have seen 231 on my RC51 and a friends 08 R6 was at 195 cruising around 85 mph and 212 in traffic. As stated before the extra fuel helps and water wetter or engine ice. I will be ordering my ebr ecm and installing engine ice in the 1125CR this week. |

Anyone have burn marks on their left inner thigh? I am. Is that normal? Also my right big toe gets pretty hot. |

I wear a "winter" boot all year and find my right foot stays a lot cooler as a result. |

@boog only time i see +95 is stuck in traffic. oahu never really gets that hot -at least not where i drive. still, the bike is much cooler with fuel. I'm running a motty AFR tuner with a target 13.7 afr in the cruising range. soooo much cooler than when i first got the bike (dec 07 build and went through all of the flashes) |

The frame certainly gets blazingly hot in the summer (along with the fuel), but I never have any leg-heat issues - it'll get uncomfortably warm occasionally, but never burning. - Gripsters on both sides really help insulate the frame from my leg. - Heavy armored textile riding pants keep the rest of it out. Even just jeans don't cut it on a hot day. |

I rode hard in the valleys and canyons north of LA today. About 90 miles of twisties all together and the ambient temp was just shy of 100 degrees. My '10 CR has stock ECM, airbox/filter and the FMF pipe. Highest temp I saw was 194, and that was when I got stuck at a light at the end of a canyon. As soon as I rolled out, it dropped ten degrees. The bike has like 2200 miles on it. |

Rolling through at good speeds != sitting in traffic. Sitting in stop and go on the highway when there's an accident during rush hour, followed by a few miles of stoplights/rush hour traffic... gets it DAMNED hot. |

I have noticed the frame gets a little hot but my jeans do a good enough job for me. And yeah, my bike stinks up the garage as well every time I ride it regardless of the out side temp. What is this Cali can and engine ice. If I were to use Royal Purple instead of Harley Sin, will that aid in cooling the engine? I have seen some on here discuss the use of some sort of paint or coating to the frame, what is this and how is it applied and where do I find it. Thanks. |

Summer has definitely arrived in Vegas. Today was about 106. I saw 217 CT at a light, but on the highway at 75 mph, I was still at 200-205 with a AT reading of 111-113. The bike is at 900 miles now, and I'm running Motul V300 syn. I added a few ounces of Water Wetter to the stock coolant too. The oil and WW should have helped the cooling a little. The bike has the latest flash, the cali can and harness. What seems to be different about this bike, is that on my Ducati 999 (which most Duc owners agree runs hot), CT will skyrocket in slow traffic to 220, at which point the fans stabilize it. But get the 999 up to 60 again, and the temp will drop fast, to 170-180. Now the 999 lives in Florida, so temps are in the mid-90s at most, and the air is much more humid and heavier. Vegas is hotter, much drier and thinner air to boot at 2000 ft. I've been told that humidity and altitude play a factor. And 10-15 degrees higher air temps out here too. I'm still surprised that the 1125's coolant temp doesn't drop that much at speed, remaining at 204 today during long periods of 75 mph. I don't have a Duc in Vegas, so I don't know how they would compare directly here. Of course the frame was super hot, and I had to modify my preferred knees-in riding position. I suppose that's the end of the story, normal operation, and I just need to get used to it. Otherwise, the bike is running well, except for the telltale signs of clutch fluid weeping that I'll need to address. It looks like it will be a long hot summer...Cold front next week; temps will drop into the 90's - Yeehah! |

Waiting on my race ECM. All report say it makes the bike run cooler and much smoother with more power. |

I suppose I should add my temps/etc are at 5000-6000' - definitely less air to work with up here. |

This was my AT reading two weeks. I want to say it was only at 88-90F as far as the ambient temp. on stop and go traffic. The highest it got was 147F This was last summer Ambient temp was probably 100F. Coolant temp 221F So far this year, I have only seen a max reading of 207F My bumper to bumper commute for reference. puredrive, why don't you split lanes? You could easily go 5-10mph splitting lanes, and it would keep your temps down. |
