I will be changing my handlebars from clubmans to the highbars and need to swap out the heated grips. Would anyone know if the left grip can be removed intact or do I need to order a new grip? The parts guy at my dealer thinks I need to buy a new left side grip with the heating element(100 bucks). Has anybody done this swap? |

My left side was destroyed when I took them off my R. (Message edited by hogzilla on May 28, 2010) |

the left oem grip is glued to the handlebar. I don't know how you could remove it, maybe you could find a solution that will dissolve the glue? (Message edited by dktechguy112 on May 28, 2010) |

The Buell OEM heated grips? They attach to the handle bar with two screws, they come off in seconds. |

I've removed two sets of stock leftside Buell grips from my bikes intact. Using an icepick or small flathead screwdriver insert under grip from the outer end under the grip. Work your way around the grip by twisting the tool back and forth perpendicular to the bar. You can also use the tool to pry/stretch the grip from the bar and squirt water or soap under the grip to facilitate removal. The grip will separate from the bar. Some of it will adhere to the bar and tear off but it wasn't very much for me and both grips are completely reusable. Not sure this method would work with glued on heated grips without destroying the heating elements. YMMV, Nels |

I do it the same way Forerunner, but I use 70% Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol. As Froggy said, the Buell heated grips use 2 screws into the handlebar for the left grip. Z |
