Wow, I wont one.. Just a basic question.. If you go about making your own exuast what do you put inside it? I know cars cats have like copper and tones of other material. Does D_adams exuast have anything inside it?
There's no cat, nothing exotic about these. All 304 stainless steel, including the perforated core tube inside. 1/3 of a pound of packing in each round can. I buy the packing in 1 pound bags, it's loose stranded material that looks identical to Bristol Core's stuff, Spec 30 packing. I haven't asked my supplier if thats what it really is, but I do know it was supposed to be rated for 10-20k miles.
Thanks.. Iv been wanting to fab up one. Iv got all the stainless in the world. and have the time now. It looks and sounds awesome btw. Reminds me a bit of my xb, great job on it.
one other question.. looks like 3/32 filler? Im guessing 11 gauge for the thickness? Not trying to sound like im trying to copy you. Just trying to get an idea.
You've got to make these. That is the sickest exhaust I have seen to date. I've been toying with buying you're rt-3, but I would much rather that one even for the extra cost.
Nice work! Looks good for being two small mufflers but I'm sure it'd be too loud for me.
Since there's a lot of wasted space between the round cans that could be better used for sound deadening, would it be feasible to change the overall design into a single modified oval shape with two outlets rather than twin round cans?
Dean! Now... I thought the last time I stopped by and we talked about RT-4 that it was a secret, and here you are spillin' the beans!
That is the meanest sounding pipe I've ever heard. AWESOME! My wife even heard it on the video and said it was the best sound she's heard coming from an 1125r. Top notch for sure!
I'm really glad to see this pipe come to life. I expected to see it around mid summer.
The sound is just amazing. I have to come see/hear this thing in person. Truly awesome!
Ok, I'm going to go out into the hypothetical realm here. If, by some chance, I were to put these into production, what price point would you guys be looking for? This one took me about 10 hours to fabricate the first one and get it close enough to call it good.
I have no options for quieting it down, it's loud and will most likely stay that way. I have several guys really twisting on my arm at this point to sell them one and one phone call I got was an offer high enough to seriously consider taking off the one I have now and ship it, so I'm wondering, how many of you would commit to buying one of these? I'm not a high volume shop, I do this stuff at home in my spare time.
I think I'd probably offer this one ONLY in polished form, so keep that in mind. I will sub the polishing out to a professional, so it will be a high quality job when it's finished. I've used the same expression myself before, some of you guys know this already, but it will be like Christmas when the package arrives. I feel a little like Santa sometimes.
Anyways, post up what you'd think a fair price would be for it and we'll see where this goes.
Ok, this may not be worth watching, but here's a short ride along at nite. Had to put the cell phone in the tank bag, so you really don't get to see anything.
D_adams, I would love to tell you what I think a fair price would be, but I think you should tell us because it's you're labor and efforts that we are all indebted for such an awesome exhaust line. I thought as you mentioned before seemed fair especially with a professional polish job. Much more than $1000, and the free spirits exhaust starts to be about the same price. Your time however should not be free. JMHO.
Motorhead102482 -- Thanks, I'm just looking for fair pricing. Yes, my time matters to me, but I don't want to get carried away either. My name isn't Leo Vince or w/e. I'm just a guy hacking away at some stainless.
Mountainstorm -- Yup, thats the twins. Two 4" cans. I used tunerpro to lower the idle.
