what exactly is the difference btw the fueling for a R and CR? Is there really a different map for each? Never understood that one... |

Ordered one as well... Fresnobuell: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/560308.html?1272656042 Seems as if there are different ECM's for the CR and the R because of different gearing. The gear indicator may be wrong if you fit a CR-ECM on a R or a R-ECM on a CR. |

The speedo would read 10% low and the gear indicator would not see 6th gear |

Same here. Two ECM's, two sets of engine guards, some decals and a resistor plug. My next paycheck is going to American Sport Bike |

Seems as if there are different ECM's for the CR and the R because of different gearing. The gear indicator may be wrong if you fit a CR-ECM on a R or a R-ECM on a CR Ahhhh... I thought that function was handled by the cluster? Hmm. |

Nope it's done in the ECM. The ECM can even compensate for speedo sensor inaccuracy at higher speeds. You can adjust these with Tunerpro. The stock ECM reports 1-2mph off at highway speeds, I am too lazy to try and tweak it out. |

Okay, cool. Aren't there different clusters for the R and CR? Why? |

Not according to my online part searches and my parts book |

+1 Froggy. Thanks for clarifying that one. Makes sense. |

I suspect I got the CR map put in my R. The speedometer reads slower than the bike is going and 6th will not display, sometimes it gets even more confused and will say 4th while in 5th. Make sure you get the right one! |

got mine in here are a few things i have noticed. the cold no longer flashes in the cluster(assume it disabled the cold 6k rev limiter as well) The idle is around 1400 and seems slower than before. The rev up as you release the clutch no longer occurs. Mine Runs a ton smoother in the 2400-3500 where it use to buck if you lugged it. I am going to get mine dyno tuned there soon so he will have a map for Barker and kn aswell (Message edited by R/T_Performance on May 18, 2010) (Message edited by R/T_Performance on May 18, 2010) |

CRAP! i just ordered my Race ECM the other nite. now i notice that they have a HMF slip-on specific Race ECM....wtf? i just fired them off an email & hope they catch it in time!!! i am wonderring if the 'new' HMF specific ECM will perform that much differently than the 'generic' race ECM i ordered...???? |

Oooh, they have one specifically for the HMF, now Im really tempted. Id love to buy one and run it on the dyno to see how it does compared to my DIY tune, then stock. Does anyone know what ignition map it uses? Once upon a time I remember hearing that the first flash on the 08's had a wilder timing map, and they tamed it in the successive ones to smooth things out. I think I heard that timing map was the one the race bikes use, is that the map on these race ecms? Also, I remember hearing about an injector change in 09, which is why an 09 flash wont work on an 08. The aforementioned ECMs dont differentiate years, how can that be? Sorry if these are old questions! (Message edited by socoken on May 19, 2010) |

They even added a tab just for ECMs. |

I wonder if the HMF map can be used with other open exhausts (FMF, Jardine, Barker's, KEDA, etc) ... or does the standard pump gas race ECM already account for a more freef-lowing exhaust. |

Looks like they now have one for the FMF slip-on too I wonder if they'll develop one for the Drummer? |

Just in case, I emailed Erik Buell Racing asking about my Barker exhaust and I got an answer in matter of seconds. "We are not going to offer a specific cal for the Barker as we have one that works really well with it and a couple of other systems. In general we do specific cals only to address problems, or if there is a large demand for a certain system and we see we can tweak it slightly to gain a horsepower or so. Thank you, Tech Support Erik Buell Racing" So, yeah, I am ordering the standard one |
