I just bought this '08 last winter and finally got to take about a 40 mile ride. That was the first time I had ridden it, and the last untill I decided to make some changes. Not a good bike with a bad back. First, I got some bar risers from Dave B., those went on nice, really close to the "tank" so I made and extra 1/2" riser, in total at least 4" taller than the clip on's. Then 1" lower Uly foot pegs, some mods to fit, no biggie. Next was insulating the inside of the frame with heat wrap, then a new HMF pipe, also with header wrap. That should help with the heat issues, and it sounds really nice, Dave B's Barker sounds better I think, this HMF may be a bit louder, well, maybe more than a bit. I have a Eric Buell Racing ECM (should help the drivability and heat as well as performance), K&N filter, gel grips and a Corbin seat on the way. I really want to like the bike. The engine, brakes are great, and the suspension seems very nice to me, but I'm no expert there for sure. At least when I do ride it again I gave it my best shot at making it fit my style better. Is there any suggestions to help out the comfort? Thanks for all the good info here on BWB! DR |

Hard to say what will be best for you, as I am not you. I am able to do 600 mile days without discomfort by only changing the seat. |

As you've made it into a more upright riding position then you may want to consider a taller screen - http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/page5.html |

get a cr, the cr with the upright bars is comfortable enough to ride all day. |

Danny, darn, I missed that seat deal, I already ordered the corbin. I guess I kinda am turning a R into a CR but it's the bike I have and it's either try this or let it sit and look pretty or sell, neither I want to do. A shield sounds good, thanks for that suggestion! Thanks, DR |

DR I am waiting on yoke will be adding the CR high bar onto my R as well. I love the R because of the air bubble but my neck HATES the clip ons. I was looking at the KTM 990SMT today and drooling at it when it dawned on me.... I have a Buell 1125SMRT. Nothing wrong with making the bike fit you the way you want it too. Mines been sitting in the lane too much this spring due to my neck. |

There's a guy in the UK making custom top yokes for the R that's better install than the CR one, it lets you re-use the ignition barrel and steering lock... |

An AirHawk seat cushion does wonders for the seat issue. If you have an issue with how it looks, take it with you. (You can't see it when you are on the bike). The CR with high bars seems pretty comfy. I may do the lower foot pegs. We'll see. |

LOL If you just ride it a few hundred miles your neck will build the muscles it is lacking as well in shoulders and numbness problems

Waiting for him to make me one. Ooohh - can you let me know what you think when you get it please? I'm still torn between a flat bar conversion or leaving it stock.. |

This helped me a lot: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/354781.html With the Convertibars you have many adjustments that allows you to custom fit them to "you". I found that it made a world of difference to adjust them to make my wrist happy. After that my arms, shoulders and back were happy too. Plus a seat, ZG Double Bubble and Uly pegs. Neil S. |
