I know it has been discussed before but has anyone powder coated the frame? Is it possible without damaging the inner protective coat? Thanks. |

Badweb sponsor GrandStand Designs has powder coated many frames, so I know it is doable. I don't know how it affects the inner coat or if they apply a new one or anything. |

They are located in New Jersey, and do fantastic work. I do not know how much they charge though, but I believe it will vary based on the type of powder and custom work and such. Here is their website, you can contact them and get a quote. Mention you are from Badweb to get a discount (I think they still give a discount). http://www.grandstanddesigns.com/website/ Here is some of their work I have seen in person and photographed.

wow, that looks amazing, they should have worked with buell to help design the bodies of the xb and 1125, they really could have made the bikes look amazing stock. and the rear brake on the front sprocket looks sick. |

Came can you say "boot eater" to that unimog axle-esque driveline brake? Pretty neat innovations, tho. Looks like Duc 1098 rear plastic? SSSA and DUAL ZTL brakes up front? Wow. I like it. |

At this point, I think it's pretty well documented that a lot of the 1125 appearance quirks and odd decisions were a function of an ignorant mothership with a finger in Buell's pudding. |

ATK came up with that rear break idea (on the counter-shaft sprocket) on their dirt bikes. Back in the mid '90's i think. Ironically, ATK was an American producer with a Rotax motor (2-stroke). I had one of their factory open class MX bikes and it was lighter than all my Jap and Euro 250's! |
