Just watched that race. I think May got about 1 second of commentary. One of these days we'll be up on the Podium in the Liter class. Great work and keep racing those Buells! | ||

I watched the entire race and never saw Geoff May and his 1125RR. I can appreciate that they want to concentrate on the front of the pack, but occasional video of the other twenty riders would be nice. | ||

They did mention the Aprilia, and the Buell, for a few seconds, but that was about it. Nice to see a Buell back on the track. BTW, am I the only one who is bothered by that damn redneck that they have doing commentary? He sounds like Boomhauer from "King of the Hill" | ||

Scott Russell blows doing the color. They had a real gem in Jason Pridmore last season (he stepped in for at least one race to do the color and was awesome.) Can't get much worse than that homer Russell. | ||

Definitely great to see a Buell in the field, and not a bad result for the first weekend. Not really a fan of Russell as a commentator either, but he was a legendary racer. Anyone pales in comparison to Jonathan Green doing WSBK. | ||

We got lucky having Eslick on a Buell last year. He's clearly a rising star. I've gotten used to Scott Russell. He does seem to be pre-disposed against Buells in the SS series. If you remember some of his comments in the first races they were clearly biased against Buells. Funny how the Buells are too big and powerful, but the Ducatis aren't? Mkay. | ||

I've never heard him make any comments against the Buells in SS. He's made some occasional comments about them in the Sportbike class, but they were never negative. I didn't watch all of last season so I prob missed something. I must be one of the few who actually likes his commentary  He brings a lot of experience to the table so he can tell you exactly what's going on, why that guy slipped up, where a pass is going to likely be made. It's pretty good. Both Ralph and Scott were also pretty happy with Geoff May's position at the end of the 2nd race It was better than 12th! | ||

Also, his verbal skills are obviously limited--complicating the situation. J. Pridmore had/has current day knowledge of the bikes and riders and way better insight on the race. It would not take a long search to replace Russell with someone significantly better. | ||

He was always negative of the Buells. he said that they were too big and heavy and hard to turn, since they were vtwins. He is not a good commentator. He may be a good racer, but he shouldn't be on tv or radio. So many other good folks out there. Even to a mid west southern boy, he kind of hicks up the show. | ||

fellas, I'm actually competent to pass judgement on other race commentators, having been one in CA for 35+ yrs, from Laguna Seca CART/IMSA to Infineon AMA to Ontario AFM/WERA, etc. Scott really does know his stuff, much better than he speaks it [similar to Freddie, actually], but overall they're both inferior to Dave Sadowski none are in the same league as Jason however, the very best TV color man is one who's too-rarely utilized - Rich Oliver | ||

Uh, actually I think us laymen are the opinions that count, after all there are very few "experts" such as yourself and legions of us. Commentators are supposed to explain to the common fan. | ||

fresno, lighten up, man - the point I was trying to make was that Russell's only OK & that there're others available who're better...... my professional assessment of another PA person's strengths & weaknesses may or may not agree with an audience's opinion |
