As many of you know, my brother wrecked my 1125 on palomar, during the wreck the instrument cluster connector was smashed along with the ic. I got a new connector, and the pins that were bent i bent back straight with a pair of needle nose pliers. When i plugged in the new ic it worked well, everything lite up and the countdown timer started, i fired the bike up and everything was working, rpm gauge, turn signals. I have not driven the bike with the new ic. My brother rode it today and told me that the ic worked when the key is turned on, but as soon as the engine is started it displays com error and theft error. and the rpm gauge does not work, the bright light flickers. The only reason i can think that it would be displaying these is that we started the bike up with no speedometer. Do i have to clear the comm error and theft error for them to go away, or do they go away by them selves? I am trying to figure out if my speedo is not hooked up right, or if it is hooked up right and i'm seeing the comm and theft error because the bike was started with no speedometer. |

Do you have the electrical diagnostics service manual? I don't think speedo errors and the theft warning are related. |

I THINK you'll get both those errors if the IC loses communication with the ECM. I'm not absolutely positive though. |
