OK so it looks like it's time for a repack of my carbon fiber Jardine RT-5. Someone (D_Adams, I think) suggested spec 30, and although I took that to be a brand, I see several different manufacturers, so it is apparently, indeed, a specification. Does anyone have any experience with particular manufacturers? I'm leaning toward one (http://www.dirtwerkz.com/Pages/products/exhaust/Br istol_Core.html) that sells a pillow-style package for about $45, which is a little higher than some of the others, but I like the idea of having it in a unit (the original packing also appears to have been a pillow). Also, I remember someone mentioning a preference for stainless steel packing. Is this appropriate for a carbon fiber canister? While I'm always fascinated by side discussions, PLEASE ANSWER THE TWO ACTUAL QUESTIONS BEFORE TELLING ME ABOUT OTHER OPTIONS/OPINIONS. Thanks in advance! |

No answers but I would like to add to the thread. I have heard of someone using stainless packing for a pottery kilm or some such thing.... Anyone have the link to that or any info on it? Also for those with the FMF apex carbon can... have your indicators turned color yet? Mine is still white and I am not really sure what to look for as far as a change... I read one post where the poster said his turned black right away but I have +2500 miles on mine with no change. |
