It does this once in a while, you can be riding and it will shut off. The 062 flash made it better, but sometimes I will rev it at a stop light or just riding and rev it to about 4000 grand it will shut down, man this could get me seriously hurt in the mountains next month. |

Define shut off, you mean the engine stalls or do you mean the whole bike loses power? |

+1 "Define shut off". Also, my 2¢ worth - might be 'noid' related? Should only happen at WOT in third gear, but the "could get me seriously hurt" feels really familiar. If you haven't yet de-noided, would recommend you do so soon. |

Sorry - description was causing flashbacks. Appreciate you catching my oversight Froggy. My turn to wear the hat, but do I have to sit in the corner too? |

the motor just shuts off like you hit the kill switch or turned it off with key |

I'd suspect the ignition relay or something else related on the electrical part. Just blipping the throttle might make it backfire through the throttle body but not kill it totally except at very low rpm, just off idle. |

Jack- i also have an 08' and it does the same thing... sometimes backfires thru the throttle boddies like d adams states, Stalls out after sitting at a light and bliping the throttle, a friend of mine told me it was the ecm b/c i installed barkers exhaust with the stock ecm. Gonna order the EB racing one next week to see! I still havent done the noid since im going with eb racing. |

Jackgraves - have your dealer check the wires at the back of the ignition switch. My fairing stay put enough stress on the wiring that it broke solder connections twice on the back of the switch.. The last time I fixed it, I relieved some material from the top of the stay to reduce interference. Z |

My 09 has been doing this as I down shift getting off of the highway, or prior to coming into a turn. It's like I hit the kill switch. I will be getting it to the dealer sometime this week. |

My 08 did a very similar thing. Sometimes blipping the throttle would cause it to stall as the revs came back down. And I had 3 times where it just stalled on downshifting, once into a turn which was not fun. I installed an EBR ECM and it's not done it since, runs smooth as silk now. So maybe have the dealer check you flash. I don't know what my flash was, I knew I was getting the EBR so I never took it to the dealer |

Just had the flash checked / updated last month when I had the harness recall done. It had done it several times prior to that, but now it seems like it has gotten worse. |

My bike dies also. Yesterday it happened 3 times, always when I was heavy breaking, the bike just turned off. Then I just fired it up with the switch and it was OK. But it's very dangerous!!! I have 2010 cr |

Mine did this, and I found that red power wire at the ignition switch separated at the solder point. If I get time i will take a pic. (Message edited by Walt on April 26, 2010) |

Hey guys, Mine seems to do the same thing. In EVERY Circumstance mentioned in this post. Blip the throttle, downshifting, coming off the highway, ect. Sometimes it will backfire through the airbox and shut off...and other times it will backfire through the airbox and stay lite. Either way, my EBR ecm should be here friday so im hoping it clears this all up. Oh and it seems to happen more frequently when its hot out... |

I have had this happen a couple of times, sitting at a stop light bike getting warm sitting there. Then just roll on the gas and it cuts out. A couple of times it happened the starter wouldn't crank over, looked at voltage and it was good. Let it sit for a minute and she would start up again. I haven't had the stator update yet, once I get home I will get it done and see if that helps the issue. |

All you people with the random stall issue..Have you checked your oil level according the way it says in the owners manual?.. |

It is not a stall or studder it shuts off completely like someone hit the kill switch when you are riding. (Message edited by jackgraves on April 28, 2010) |

I thought that may have been a factor, but after checking the oil level all was well. |

Yeah I checked mine was at full after temp was up and I waited 3 mins before checking, on my stands with bike level. |

Yea, mine did that...It shut off like a switch was hit...Checked my oil level. was above the " too high " line....Drained the oil to proper level...it seems to not stall... |

hi there, i have an '09 R with just over 400mi and it's done this a handful of times - as i'm coming to a stop, pull in the clutch and it just dies. fires right back up when i thumb the starter and doesn't show any signs of trouble otherwise. i'll check the wires + let you know what i find. cheers, chris |
