thats the reason i have not put an exhaust on mine the leos are starting to really crack down on loud exhausts here and it dont matter what its on sport bikes, harley's, tuner cars, big disel pickups you name it if it has a loud exhaust here your gonna get the leos all over your a$$
when i bought my fmf, and ebr ecm, i thought the same thing...then i had the rpm/idle set at 1250...what a difference...at engine idle, the motor noise is actually louder than the exhaust...open the throttle hard, its loud, but its no louder than any ducati ive owned in the past...and def. not as loud as knuckle heads riding...well... h.d. knuckle heads...
I will say it's a pretty good first attempt. It may not look as pretty as one of the big manufacturer's pipes, but it works. I'm assuming you used galvanized tubing and a small 110 volt mig welder? You said it was a "modified flowmaster" muffler, what did you do to it? I'm sure others are curious to see better res pics of it, do you want them posted up? If you do, I'll put them up for you. I like the fact that you've at least tried to do something your way. Not everyone can do it or wants to. I guess Buellers are a different breed.
Its all mild steel not galvanized and I made the muffler I scaled a pic of the internals of a flowmaster and built it to my scale. The only hard part was the y-pipe. The next one will be s.s. and maybe tiged instead of mig. If you would post them that be great thanks
After looking at some of these videos on youtube, I found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNmkYPB2Wi4. This one convinced me the torque hammer is worth the money and I bought one! Thanks everyone on this thread and thanks Dris.
