The kit transforms the CR into what I was looking for. I have had several GSXR's, two TL1000's and many other sportbikes. I like them a lot and they are great fun but I started getting back into some old bikes like the old 82 GS650E that is in my garage. I love to ride that bike, just the way it sits and you can hustle that pig pretty good with the wide leverage bars on it. I bought the CR and I knew the clubs had to go. They were pretty comfy and I could have lived with them but the high bar makes it feel right to me. Even pushing the bike out of the garage is easier. I think I might put some lead shot in the bars to reduce the little vibe there is. Other than that I am now looking for a pipe to give it a little more rumble. |

I never did understand why they put clubman bars on the CR - that's what the R was for. I guess HD just thought that they would make lots of money selling the high bars kit ... I wouldn't have bought a CR if it hadn't come with the high bars - but then I also have an R so there was little point. |

My CR came with the high bars, I hated them, the bike is so much better with the clubmans. I am putting clubmans or clipons on the rest of my bikes, I can't stand the upright position anymore. |

I have the high bar kit and heated grip kit waiting to be installed. I too have been enjoying bikes more that have the "standard" seating position. When I have time, I plan to install the kits, in addition to putting Uly or some other drop pegs on it. I have my 04 ZX10R for when I feel like riding something with a more edgy riding position. As for why they put clubmans on it in the first place, that's an easy one. They were marketing the CR as a cafe racer and the bikes back in the day had clubmans. Not many do today, which I am sure was part of the draw for the designers. To each their own. |

I upgraded from an XB12STT to the 1125CR with the clubman bars. Was never comfortable in the riding position with the clubman bars, too much weight on the bars, once I put the tall bars I felt more confident in the handling of the bike. |

I have seen how much you hate the highs froggy, and for as much as you hate them I love them so far. I think a CR should be what you like. |

Still running the clubs even tho I have the high bars sitting here. Probably won't switch unless I ride one with the highs and fall in love. Don't want to switch it and hate it then have to go back. |

Bob_saggot, I had the rare opportunity to ride both one after the next at Daytona Bike Week as they had two 1125CR's demos one stock with clubman and the other with the tall kit. I think it probably depends on what you where riding before the 1125CR, if it was an Firebolt leave the clubmans on, if it was a Lightning go tall kit. I am somewhat curious as to weather or not the clubman bars can be swapped back on without having to swap back the shorter cables. Anyone done this yet? |

One problem with the clubmans was when stopped in traffic, and the engine was cold, (couldn't get neutral when stopped when cold), you couldn't get up. I think that after the flash, now that the bike is less twitchy at slower speeds, they might have been more acceptable. I went with the high. I don't feel the need for the lowered pegs, though. |

I think the "clubmen" gave the CR the exact same ergonomics as the R. Like that they could use the most same parts. With the highbar kit, they couldn't have called it "Cafe Racer" any more - more streetfighter, or Lightning.... I put on some aftermarket Renthal fat bars and LOVE the bike now. The gearing combined with the bars make it a real streetfighter in my eyes. I am so glad I didn't get the R. Anybode can recommend good bar end weights in red? |

If I were going to use my CR as a track only bike or I only rode it over 80mph all the time, I'd put the clubmans back on. The high bars turn my 6'5" self into a giant sail and it's a struggle to ride really fast. But anything under about 80mph (which is just about all my street riding other than interstate droning), the high bars are better. The clubmans would also make it a struggle to stand up and stretch, even the high bars are a bit low for standing comfortably. I think the most comfortable bike I ever owned was my Ulysses with LOWERED bars on it. I put a set of Renthal medium rise bars on the Uly and it was perfect. |

So I guess what we need is a set of bars that automatically lower as speed increases, like some cars do. |

The 2010 CR no longer has the clubman bars. I really like the riding position. I have my GSXR1K for the hard edge riding.

my CR came with the clubmans and i didnt really like the seating position and turning my head was a bummer. I installed the tallbar kit and like the upright position for cruisin, but the clubmans are definitely the way to go when at speed. ---it came down to this for me--- either be uncomfortable at low speeds with the clubmans or uncomfortable at high speeds with the tallbars. I think the clubmans will be going back on. I tried just switching the bars(not cables and lines) last week and I dont think its doable. The longer throttle cables were prone to binding and one of the longer lines would rub the inside of my pod and i didnt want to mark it all up. I think my next move will be the lower pegs and reinstall the clubmans. |

The longer lines are the right size. The cables are about 1.5 inches too long for real smooth operation. The correct routing they might be ok, but who know what that is? The higher bars do give a lot of wind pressure above 65plus, not a bad thing in the ticket crazy states! |

usanigel, what do u mean the longer lines are the right size? Have you tried to use the longer(tallbar kit) brake/clutch lines with the clubmans? I have and I couldnt route them in a way that was safe and not rubbing anywhere on the bike. I'd love to be able to switch bars only without doing the lines and cables but dat aint lookin good. |

Rombi, I'm with you on this one. I put the high bars on as well as Uly pegs and like it a lot better..just what I was looking for. I find it actually quite comfortable set up this way, and it is more fun in the tight twisties. |
