Does anyone have any pics of the charging system harness installed? How about the dealer instructions? I am mostly just curious what the dealer will be doing to my bike. ac |

had mine "upgraded" today. It took about 2 hours for a tech that, I think, has only done one other. In addition to captain america's pics there is another connector similar to these two under the tail section, he moved a/couple pin outs on the ECM connector and also added a wire to the ECM connector. maybe more? This was more work and a lot of extra wires and connectors I did not expect! Hopefully this will save our stators todd |

Oh man, that sounds complicated for a Harley tech. It is funny, HD doesn't trust ME to do the work...and I don't trust THEM! ac |

Does the pulsing of the lights go away (dash, tail light, etc.)? Mine pulses quite a bit right now, at idle it is very noticeable. It has done this from new, not something that has just occurred. |

Mine does that also. I can see the LCD pulse at idle. ac |

The instructions are very simple. Lots of steps...but simple steps. They unplug a connector. They add a small overlay harness. They add a couple of connectors. They add a relay. They add a wire to an existing connector on the ECM, to control everything. They reflash the ECM. |

How much of the bike has to come apart? Sounds like airbox cover and left pod? ac |

+ tail + motor (if you need a new stator as I did) Other than that I Have no clue. HD won't let me do the warranty work on my bike either |

So far procedure works well for my bike. Charging volts range anywhere from as low as 12.7 to 14.1 volts but generally stays between 13.6 to 14.1. I commute a lot with my bike as well as doing weekend riding. On the 91 fwy here in So Cal I am in heavy traffic. I notice the volts will drop quite a bit in stop and go traffic (below 13 volts at times) while I am lane splitting. I have found out with my bike I have to keep the revs at 5,000 or above then they wont drop below 13. So although I would like to be in second gear while I am in that mess the bike hates it. Maybe one day I will get the fast track pass. I also feel its safe to assume that is probably why my stator failed. Anyhow I owned two Xb's before this never had any trouble and those were air cooled. At least our 1125's are liquid. |

I am in the same boat as Freezerburn. I commute everyday from my house in Riverside to Hawthorne, CA (65 miles) on the 91. I have fasttrack though. Dude you need fasttrack! Going West on a bike is ALWAYS free and going east on a bike is ALWAYS free except between 4-6pm during the week its half off! Why have I not seen you? |

I get off at 4:00pm going north bound on 710 then I hit the 91 around 4:10pm then when I do hit the crud its about 4:30 to 4:45pm. I do have the paperwork for the fast track just have not sent it in yet. I will be hitting the fast track where I have to pay everytime. The thing is I have used it with a previous bike. No matter what I couldnt get home before 5:20pm and I get home without fast track no later than 6:00pm sometimes sooner like 5:45pm. So I have to weigh how much is that time worth. I will probably do it eventually. Also some days like today I use my Ranger because of the threat of rain or else I would have it with me today. I think I have seen you as a matter of fact I saw a Buell 1125cr yesterday going home in the fast track. I was around Gyspum canyon. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on March 31, 2010) |

Captain, Your dealer installed the harness wrong. When you have the cali canister, the relay is supposed to be on the outside of the frame. It also looks like the relay is way farther back than it should be. |

The harness should be making a T where the two stator connections and relay leads come together. Captains looks like a Y and looks like it is being pulled to the back of the tailsection in the direction of the relay. I would love to know if the relay was placed too far back or the lead length to the relay is too short. |

Where is the relay? I didn't see one... Tibman260 Do you have a pic of the correct routing. The routing of mine looks OK to me there are no wires being pulled. whew! 150 everyday? Ya,,,,, were crazy... Common I ride in the rain! lol. Lets meetup one day and ride home together. I get off @ 3:30 but usually leave between then and 4:30. We could meet at the 91 and 710 no problem. |

Actually Captain I lie a little bit. Monday and wednesday I stay out here with a friend. Certainly minimizes the headache but when he gets married that will be that. This friday I will give you a buzz. Meetup at Atlantic and the 91 mobil station right there. Sorry I will ride in the rain if I get caught in the rain. lol. Which had happened when we got that El nino effect the last month or two. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on March 31, 2010) |
