There is an alternative to drilling it for the 08's, I am waiting on some feedback from an individual that has a set. If it gets a good approval rating, I'll start selling them. I still have the drilled swingarm type spools available if you want to go that route though. (Message edited by d_adams on March 24, 2010) |

Ron, those American Sport Bike sliders/spools are fine if you just want to put the rear of the bike on a stand but they don't help if you want to remove the rear wheel since the axle needs to come out. Also, $81.95 for axle sliders? Ouch! |

Just be sure to carefully deburr "both" sides of the holes. NO..sharp edges or burrs. Mike |

Ok so is there oil in the 09 R. Because my dealer said there was and I was like..."huh???" I didn't know that. But then again they said it doesn't have a theft mode also. No wonder Harley sold out they didn't know what they had. Dum a$$'s |

Don't know exactly what your trying to say, I'm kinda confused but if ur asking if the oil is in the rear swing arm. It is NOT... read the owners manual... its only in the swing arm on xb's. Then again just looking at the bike you could of seen that. Wow these dealers crack me up.. go back and give em a swift kick in the gonads lol |

air cooled XB's had their oil tank in the swingarm. the 1125's oil tank is in the motor itself...not in the swing arm. rex |

Why not take the measurements form the 09 1125R and weld mounting tabs for the spools, just like on 09 models? |

I looked and didn't find the info in the threads I checked - my apologies if this is covered elsewhere - Please help. On the 2008 1125R: I have located 'spool' bosses on inside of swingarm about 2" in front of axle. In order to mount spools at this location, you would need to mill the outside face of the swingarm flat (about 11/16" diameter, centered on 6mm hole) to get the base of the spool to mount flat against the swingarm. I know I'm just restating the problem, but I am not seeing the solution here. I'm not worried about drilling through the swingarm at this location as it is more or less in the center where stresses would be minimal in most situations. What I am concerned about is the thickness of the swingarm and whether milling a flat face is even possible. I'm not particularly interested in the "hook-on" option mounted to the bottom flange of the swingarm - Also, the 'through axle' option doesn't really help me when I want to remove the wheel. The other alternative I see is to fabricate a make-up piece between the swingarm and spool base to transition from the angled swingarm face to the flat spool base. Lost wax casting ability, anyone?? Thanks |
