No kidding, that pod doesn't look that bad if you got crash damage. A little rubbing compound and a lot of elbow grease and it would be good to go. Methinks someone was either a little too eager to donate to the Tree of Shame. |

Last time I was there, I saw a black buell airbox cover, that looked to be in decent shape, hanging on the tree. that pod does look like it's useable... |

I wouldn't rush right down there... The Dragon's closed due to a landslide. Hopefully they'll see to it that the road is repaired and reopened. It's one of those "must visit" places that I haven't checked off my ride list. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56 0811 |

Is it considered bad taste to "recover" parts from the tree of shame ? - there are a few goodies there that I could find a use for - don't want any dead man's parts, though... too much bad mojo..... |

It is absolutely poor form to remove anything from the tree of shame. I can't imagine why someone would do such a thing. I crashed my Yamaha TDM850 at the Gap about 10 years ago. The only part that broke off that beast was a turn signal, which I placed on the tree. |

Dude, removing parts from the tree of shame is like robing an ancient Indian burial ground. That pod will find its way back to the tree, along with the rest of your bike. |

It's mine. I added the left outer radiator shroud from my racing red 2009 Buell 1125CR to Tree of Shame on 11/05/09 and it got broadcast on on Good Morning America 11/15/09. http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=9088145 Here's a videos from the trip... http://www.vholdr.com/video/carving-corners-my-buell-1125cr-tail-dragon-deals-gap (Message edited by fierrosc on March 23, 2010) |

I failed to notice anything in the linked broadcast, or on the "carving corners" video to show that the pod was left there by Fierrosc. Did he lay his bike down somewhere along the Dragon? I never saw it...

Bartimus, Yeah, I just made the whole story up so nobody else would run up there and get it before my trip in April! I didn't say "Here's the video from the crash", I said "Here's a video from the trip." (Message edited by fierrosc on March 24, 2010) |

Dude, he was simply pointing out that the ABC video only shows a quick glimpse of the pod on the tree. There was nothing in your previous post or in the video to indicate that there was even a wreck. Hell even in the first picture above the pod looks fine. |

So the thread begins "Alright, who's pod is this?" In my original post, I simply answered the question. "It's mine." and then provided some interesting video regarding my contribution to the tree. |

So is it yours or not? The suspense is KILLING me!!! P.S. If the ownership of the aforementioned pod is yours, please divulge the stipulations which led to its eventual bequeathal to the sapling of abashment. |

That's only 25 fatalities in the last 10 years... http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps/map_deaths.pdf More people die on US-1 (Overseas Highway) from Florida City to Key Largo every year than on the Dragon in the last ten years. (Message edited by fierrosc on March 24, 2010) |

Highway 6 in Utah: 519 Fatal or serious injury crashes (1996-2008). There are definitely more dangerous roads than US 129. (maybe not as much fun, though) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story Id=120716625 |

Firebolt32, Easier than photo shop would have been to take the POD off the tree, take a picture of myself, and then put it back. Well there are those initials "CF", written on the pod which could just be a coincident that mine are the same but, I'm probably the only one who knows WTF "Go you hairy farm mules." means. |
