I cant get enough of this bike.(09 1125CR) Its been nice here in Jersey and I am finally able to put in some miles. The problem is that I'm on my toes when sitting on it and I think I want to be lower. Has anyone lowered an 1125? Thanks | ||

nope. Just bought boots with thick soles. You brought up a point though that some vertically challenged people have a rough time on the 1125r. | ||

I think there were some posts on here about reprofiled seats... and in theory you could buy a shorter shock and possibly slide the trees down the forks but I suspect that would impact the handling.. A lower/narrower seat would seem the best option (and platform shoes)... | ||

I took mine (CR) to an auto upholsterer. Had him trim the stock foam so that it's the same thickness from back to front and a smaller radius at the transition up to the "tank". And then recover. A...guy about 5'6" or so, at the dealer I've been going to, asked if he could try it out. He looked at me, smiled and said..this is great, I can put my feet down. He's got an R My reason for doing the change was because the seat wasn't made for the male anatomy...in my opinion..! I was always very uncomfortable. After trimming the seat...all is well. Mike | ||

I have no issue with reaching the ground... but the bikee is for sure a nut buster!!!!! Not as bad as some others iv rode before though | ||

Strange... I am only 5'7" (30" inseam) and I actually replaced the seat with a Corbin (raising it up a bit) which is surprisingly comfortable as long as you aren't attacking the corners by hanging off (the seat tends to grab you as you slide off). I am about 5'9" and can flat foot at stoplights. It took a while for me to get comfortable on turning her around in the garage, now not too much. I do say though that having thicker soles on my riding boots helped immensely. | ||

We bought an XBR seat, trimmed it down and it's better. However, being 5'3" with a 29" inseam, I'm still on my tip toes. So....we went to a parking lot and I practiced stopping and just putting down one foot or the other, dirt bike style. Need to move the butt to one side or the other tho to get the foot down flat. It will take time to get used to it but I will make it work. The XB seat is also much more comfy | ||

Was it a new seat or a second hand one? I'm hoping my seat will "break in" and get more comfie! | ||

Thanks for the responses and the link to the other thread. I have a 30" inseam and I'm on my toes at stops. Its not an issue with the bike,its me. I have pretty weak calf muscles from a previous back injury(significant atrophy). The time this becomes an issue is when my foot hits a slick surface-I slow motion dropped my lightning like that at a stop light and felt like a douche not to mention scratchin up my air filter. Dont want to do that again if I can help it. I have to say this 1125CR is an awesome machine. |
