On a warm day if you ride a whole tank, fill up, and then rest for a bit, the gas will expand enough to start leaking a good bit when you upright the bike. I've taken to filling up AFTER my rest stop, just as I'm leaving for the next tankful of riding. |

I rode ten miles to meet my group, filled up when I got there and got a snack. Came back out to find a three foot puddle under my bike. The canister mod helped that but if you stuff it full like I tend to do it'll run awful and toss the engine light for the first minute on the road. I'm now working on my fill up techniques. |

Yep, had that happen to me while driving through Denver. I made the mistake of filling up past the lip on a hot day. A guy on hog came up to inform me that it appears my "rice rocket" was scared of all the chrome. Had he not been pushing 300# my 190# a$$ may have had something to say about that remark. I was then vindicated when I passed him as his merry band of hooligans on the freeway...they were loading a bunch of chrome into the bed of a pick up truck after loosing some oil on the freeway...Just deserts!

Mine has always marked its territory after each ride, even with the tank almost empty. The kind folks at my dealer installed the California charcoal can which improved things a bit, but the fumes still fill up the garage after every ride. So my wife named the bike...

I live in a complex where the garages are communal, three at a time. One of me space mates complained to property management about the smell of gas. I need to have a resolution action plan by end of next week. I took it up with my dealer and they are saying I need to pay the cali can. The above posts have made me think otherwise. What has been your experience? THX |

Danny, I asked mine about doing it while my bike is there for the charging system harness change. I could do it myself, but don't feel like messing around the TB area. They said they could do it (parts and labor) for just over $100, but said they'd call H-D to see if they'd cover it. I'll find out early next week. My only concern is that the canister stops the drip, but doesn't get rid of all the smell. I kind of like the smell of gas, but my wife's not a big fan. Dms - Too funny! That plated cracked me up ... For the garage situation maybe you could just plug the vent line when you put her away.... If your worried about the pressure you could just take off and re-install the cap to vent the pressure before you walk away..? |

I took off the cap the other day. Noting like boiling fuel vapors If anything its an excuse to leave the bike outside and wash it later. |

I have an 08 1125R I just got it...can anyone tell me does there bike run really hot at low speed/traffic?? The frame and front of the drivers seat seam to get very hot and the temp was about 180-195 degrees.This never happened with my XB9r. Is this normal?? The bike has less than 200 miles on it. |

Its semi-normal... Make sure you have the latest ecu programing as that helps, also all these bikes seem to get better with the hot running after they get broken in a bit. I added the o h i o sport bike tune to mine it it helped with the hot frame/exhaust issue BIG-TIME and I got a better/stronger running bike at the same time... There are many haters out there but at the time it was the only option for a tune and I'm very pleased with it! |

Thank you for the information I will look into that...Also it helps if the dealer actually preps the bike like they said they would before we picked it up...They didn't check any of the fluids nor did they remove the set up tags from the engine. The tags started to burn while I was riding..I had to add engine coolant and oil both very low...Great bike BAD dealer support if HD keeps treating people like this they will be out of business soon |
